Gambitxremy, you embarrass all members of the Church With this line of dialog...
The creation of Onslaught embarrass the church. Lol
What x- comics in the cross over do you have to read I n the original crossover
My first exposure to Onslaught was Marvel VS Capcom 1, and I think it's solely because of that game that people even remember and look back fondly on Onslaught to begin with. And the sad thing is, among the VS Series Marvel final bosses, he's the only one that has absolutely nothing going about him today.
X-Men COTA had Magneto, Marvel Super Heroes had Doctor Doom & Thanos, X-Men VS Street Fighter & Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter had Apocalypse, and Marvel VS Capcom 3 had Galactus.
The Onslaught Saga was one of the first comic stories I ever read.
(I think it was 6 tpbs collecting entire story, including tie ins)
I loved it back then, but sadly it hasn't fully withstood the test of time.
Some of the X-Men stuff is still pretty good, particularly the Juggernaut & Onslaught revealing himself stuff.
But the tie-ins ..... yikes, the Avengers & Fantastic Four must have been all over the place back then.
No wonder they got erased from existence for a few years.
Still it got me hooked on X-Men and introduced me to the Avengers, so it served it's purpose well.
Plus I hadn't been overexposed to the arrive at the last second and strike a heroic pose trope back then - so I thought moments like this were super cool:
Trying to catch up on 2 years of Marvel comics.....
Comic Book Parody - Funny comic book stuff.
X-Men: Drama of the Atom - An unfinished Battle of the Atom parody.
I hated the Onslaught idea and had hoped never to see it again. I did not enjoy Skullslaught either.
The build up was so good. If they had not chickened out and went with the lame "Magneto corrupted him" angle and stuck with it just being Xavier's dark side alone I still think the story would have been so much better. The story getting highjacked by the powers that be to use as a spring board for Heroes Reborn also pretty much ruined it.
You can always tell when a story get highjacked that you are getting a half ass story and not the one the writers originally wanted to tell.
For the fans, there is an Onslaught Omnibus coming out on July 14th, 2015. It's been highjacked by the Avengers of course it's official title is X-Men/Avenger Onslaught Omnibus. I don't even remember how many Avengers issues actually tied in, but the thing has 1296 pages which is pretty freaking huge. The X-Statix Omnibus (the biggest one I have, it's a brick) is only 1200 pages.
Sounds like uncanny avengers and Axis.. can you just read the x-men issues of onslaught to get the story and what issues are they

As a kid of the 90s, I hate this up, and even bought the eight trade volumes. Sure it is all over the place but it was a bunch of fun. Who wouldn't want a perfect combination of Magneto / Xavier powered by X-Man and Franklin Richards? Then the heroes sacrifice and the X-Traitor reveal, it is awesome. Now Post-Onslaught nonsense, ooof, that's another thing all together.
