What's problematic is erasing a character's Jewish heritage.
There is little problem dealing with his age in the comics via de-aging and any number of explanations.
It’s what Marvel Studios and how they deal with it that will be an issue that will impact what the comics does. There you need a frozen in time or slowed aging explanation which one didn’t in 2000.
The Holocaust is far too integral a part of Magneto’s character to part with. This isn’t Xavier serving in Korea vs Vietnam... for Magneto the Holocaust is a central part of his pathos that he was forced to help destroy his race.
How Marvel Studios decides to integrate mutants and what they do with the twins and mutants will impact the Axis retcon related issues as well.
