I still don't understand how you think it's dead franchise because it's didn't make a billion. The vast bulk of successful films dont make a billion, most of the Marvel films don't even make a billion.

If a whole billion is your mark for success vs failure then most of the MCU is a failure - only 6 of the 20 films have managed that much. A success rate of 30% isn't good. Or maybe Disney judges success based on income vs costs of making/promoting the film rather than an arbitrary number that has nothing to do with what the film costs.

It's not. Disney won't admit they may have overreacted or made a mistake.

The interesting part will be how far the cast will go to back Gunn.

The more out-spoken won't do jack-squat because they love that big fat check too much.

We'll see. I have a feeling that 1 or 2 may walk away but I could be wrong.

    They’re under contract.

Hollywood contracts really don't mean much. I doubt Disney will force any of them to do a third film if they don't want to.

If the cast quits, Disney will say bye.
Rocket is the only one left anyway.
Ending GOTG right now actually is good timing.

Bautista might be the only one who actually walks away. He really doesn't seem to give a crap.

And if there is no Drax, they might as well not make the movie.

The cast will be back this kind of stuff is usually more emotional for the people on the outside than on the inside. The cast went for a hail Mary and bless them but Gunn was fired by Disney not Marvel and he's understanding their decision and keeping mum. IMO Gunn will give his script and notes to Feige and they'll be used to craft Guardians 3 with either Taika Waititi taking over or someone new and in 5 years when Black Panther 3 or something is coming out and the MCU is celebrating 15 years you'll see Gunn quietly back in the fold at premieres or celebrations. As for Gunn's career he'll either go to another studio or go back to Indies films either permanently or until he builds enough good will to sign with a studio again.

I saw one article claiming that the apology some people remember had to do with some essays he wrote online, not for his tweets-- essays which allegedly had some of the same problematic elements, like "50 superheroes you'd like to have sex with" and the like.

They don't want an investigation into how many pedophiles are really running Disney.
