The entire Marvel history since 1961 - that's 58 years of storylines - takes place over about 13 years in-universe. That's roughly 1 year in the Marvel Universe for every four in our universe. So a story published in 1982 would now be set around 8 years ago. 2010. The Marvel Age started around 2005.

Because everyone who's read it has probably already forgot

Kitty goes to Summer camp. Angst ensues. It reminds me of those old X-Men Unlimited stories.

So what's this time at camp got to do with her leaving Colossus at the altar?

I did. It was fun to read, but mostly just fluff. Felt like more like the backup story in an annual than the main event. Not bad, just small.

So no "deep, dark" secrets? No insight into Kitty's romantic leanings? Nothing surprising?

If there was any subtext, it went right over my head.

Bugger all. Unless Colossus secretly hates mutants.

A well written, perfectly serviceable book, that wasn’t what I wanted.

So while it was a nice little story it was pointless? That sounds about right...

Clearly Kitty's first kiss implanted a subliminal thought in her head that it's wrong for people with an X-gene to pair up with people with X-gene. So she can never be with Colossus or any mutant which is the real reason she broke up with Colossus and Iceman

What you can't break up with someone because they're a total screw up?

Zilch. I don't think this annual serves any role in Gold's narrative at all. Instead, it's just a tryout for writer Seanan McGuire. Marvel must've liked it because they already gave her the Spider-Gwen ongoing.

This was a fun, done-in-one story about Kitty, which is exactly what I wanted.
