Default Do the CBR Forums have a mute function?

My apologies if this has been asked a hundred times before, but I could not find this anywhere. Is there any way for me to mute certain posters? I enjoy posting here at CBR and chatting about comics with other people, but I am getting a bit tired with having to scroll through the latest posts by people whose opinions I am simply not interested in anymore. It's generally nothing personal, but I would rather not have to wade through the exact same kinds of posts by people whose views I have read dozens of times before or whose sole reason for posting is the crap upon a story or creator they don't like.

Or is this simply not possible with the current forums?

Go to poster's profile>add to ignore list.

However, it's a violation of the site's rules to tell someone that you've put him on ignore.

So, does that mean it's more polite to "ignore" somebody without telling them you're ignoring them?

It is a problem when you put someone on ignore but they keep responding to everything you post. I suggest telling them that you're not going to talk to them any more. They might be able to read between the lines.

    NO FLAMEBAITING

Do not inform someone when you are reporting their post, or that they’re going on (or are on) your ignore list. Simply do it or don’t, the audience doesn’t need to know. Do not create threads to deliberately target, ridicule, or mock other users, they will be deleted and action will be taken.

Like the rule says, if you're going to ignore someone just do it. Using a public thread to air your personal off-topic business is of interest to no one.
