The beauty of having a runoff election is that there is still plenty of time for Trump to do something unforgivably stupid between now and then. Mississippi has been automatic red for so long that the local party organization is probably not ready for the national spotlight, and as this will be the only race going the candidates will have to prove they are ready for the big time.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Daily Caller? Daily Beast is the online presence of Newsweek, a rather respectable news magazine.

And as far as news web sites are concerned, they come highly recommended:

There's a common view I've seen on twitter that it's suspicious that we haven't heard much about the caravan in the last week.

The main reason is that they haven't been moving this week. They spent the week in a New Mexico sports stadium, and decided on the next course of action: heading to California.

The bulk of the caravan will follow the roughly 900 migrants who left Mexico City on Friday, and many were impatient to get going after having spent much of the week in the sports complex…

The migrants’ plan was to take a subway to the northern part of Mexico’s capital, then proceed first to the city of Queretaro, followed by Guadalajara, Culiacan and Hermosillo until the migrants arrive in Tijuana on the U.S. border, said Nashieli Ramirez, director of Mexico’s Human Rights Commission.

Ramirez said that 90 percent of the at least 4,000 migrants remaining in Mexico City would depart before dawn Saturday and that 400 had decided to stay in Mexico.

Rep. Henry Cueller (D-TX) has issued his statements on this.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), who sits on the House Appropriation Committee's Homeland Security subcommittee, provided the update following briefings with the Department of Homeland Security.

"This caravan with over 6,000 migrants has departed Mexico City en route to Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. This caravan will likely follow the Viacrucis caravan that made its way to the California border in April 2018," Cuellar said in a statement.

"It is expected that it will take approximately two weeks before a significant portion of the caravan will reach the U.S. border near San Diego, California. There are another 4,000 migrants headed north in three additional caravans, according to the International Organization for Migration."

Cuellar represents a southern Texas district that he noted includes more than 290 miles of the southwest border.

"My District is also home to about 736,150 hard-working citizens and 8 major ports of entry between the U.S. and Mexico, making border and national security a top priority of mine," he said.

"In response to the impending migrant caravan, I want to provide my constituents with as much information as possible, including a map, to help them understand and assess the current situation regarding the migrant caravan."
