Claim to be all about NY but you won't spring for Shake Shack? WTF
Apparently he even lied about how many burgers he bought (with his own money) -- may or not be true but certainly is par for course.

In the video [above], Trump notes that the White House brought in 300 hamburgers for the event. The president has made common practice of inflating numbers for his own benefit — whether it be the size of his inauguration crowd, or the trade deficit. He couldn’t help himself on Monday, either. After the dinner wrapped, Trump addressed the high-performance athletes he had just served sodium-rich sandwiches. The number of hamburgers tripled. “Do we give you some little quick salads that the first lady will make, along with the second lady — they’ll make some salads. I said you guys aren’t into salads,” Trump said. “Or do I go out and send out for about 1,000 hamburgers? Big Macs. So we actually did. We bought 1,000. Burger King. All American companies. Burger King, Wendy’s and McDonald’s.”
Clemson lists 119 players on its 2018-2019 football roster, along with 11 coaches. If the White House ordered 1,000 hamburgers, it would be enough for each player or coach to eat seven burgers, and that’s assuming all 130 of them made the trip to Washington. Pizza, chicken nuggets, salad and fries were also being served. “We have everything that I like, that you like,” Trump said.
“I know that no matter what we did there’s nothing you could have that’s better than that.”
On Tuesday morning, the number grew from 1,000 hamburgers to “over 1,000 hamberders,” which Trump claimed he paid for himself. He said it was all gone within an hour, which, again, means that each player would have had to have eaten over seven hamburgers, not to mention the other offerings."

Team Mueller Update:
I'll skip the hearing soundbites as most of you have that covered.
Gates is about to have a change in status. He is cooperating. Another delay was granted.
SCOTUS voted against hearing challenges to the appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting AG. Like it or not, he's here to stay.
SCOTUS Gets Request to Put Mystery Mueller Opponent’s Case on the Record. Appeal to release will be taken later this month.
Supreme Court says mystery company must pay fines while it challenges Mueller-related subpoena. SCOTUS rejected unanimously an "executive privilege" plea from "organization 2." So now we have to figure out who they are. #2 clearly has ties to the current POTUS.

Hillary was right!
The story is BS. The hospital he is going to is privately owned.

This is part of why the media is so distrusted.

He is going to Canada, because the American healthcare system is garbage (thanks to people like him giving free reign to pharmaceutical and insurance companies to raise prices beyond what most Americans can afford) and he knows it. However, unlike most Americans, who have to go into debt to get most serious medical work done, he has the money to travel out of the country and pay people in a country he decries as a socialist hellscape, because he is what? A hypocrite. He should be forced to rely on the same system he helped put in place for the rest of us, ut no....not when he can get cheap medical care in the land of socialized medicine, all while telling gullible Republican voters that America has the best health care system in the world, as long as we keep the socialists off of it.
But thanks for being there to spin in favor of your party, as ever. Good to know that we can add rank hypocrisy to the list of racism, homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia, greed, gluttony, sloth, wrath, pride, avarice and all the rest of the stuff you'll defend when it's a Republican.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
I doubt the optics of this are bad for Trump.
Most Americans enjoy fast food on occasion. The criticism just comes across as unserious snobbery (and means less time is devoted to substantive criticism).
He's not going for cheap medical care.
As observed by the Washington correspondent for the Toronto Star, the place he's going to "one of a very small number of private, for-profit clinics that were grandfathered into Ontario's socialized health system."

It specializes in hernia treatment, which Senator Paul needs after he was assaulted by his neighbor.
The Hill is a credible enough news source that I would expect an unambiguous matter of fact to be accurate (Is the Hospital Rand Paul is going to an example of socialized medicine?) when it is used within the opinion piece.

On another forum, there was an interesting argument about Senator Kamala Harris, who is likely to run for President.
Someone posted a critical article about her decisions as prosecutor to fine parents of excessively truant children.
https://medium.com/@politicspeach/ka...s-d5dbcc5fde2f
As a note, the writer of the article is shady as hell, with articles about being accused of being a Russian troll, accusing Terry Crews of cowardice for not responding to sexual assault with violence, criticizing Obama/ praising DeSantis on pardons of black men convicted unjustly generations ago, and backing a meme to encourage Sanders supporters to leave the Democratic party.
I personally have no objection to what Harris did, although I'm noticing this argument in other writeups about the 2020 primary/ her likely presidential campaign.

I'm curious what you guys think as well-read people more likely to be of the left. Was it wrong of her to enforce laws fining parents of excessively truant children? Or was this a legitimate response to a serious policy concern?
Sincerely,
Thomas Mets
