The sad thing is these conspiracies will resonate to a percentage of the public. Even in Kavanaugh's op ed today where he says he will be impartial and said some things he shouldn't have. Who can believe that? What he said those conspiracy theories do and will continue on. All the GOP, trump have to do is put it out there. In the rallies etc, in the hearings...it will take a life of its own in their supporters. Even after the rare correction, or apology later it wont resonate as much as the initial suggestion of lefty conspiracy.

Murkowski votes no. Flake, Collins, and Manchin vote yes on advancement.

I heard people play this as a possibility where Manchin votes yes to give a vulnerable Republican the cover to vote no.

The thing is by doing this she’s effectively guaranteeing a loss. Which is a great moral victory, but strategically, we are now looking at losing that seat to a hard right Republican AND he’s still getting confirmed anyways. So there is no win to be had. Like yeah blow up your chances if it stops him

There was an interview on TV with a editor from a major state news paper who said that the polls are wrong and that she stands a good chance of winning, even more so now that she has said no.

I've heard Flake is angling to become a lobbyist after leaving politics, so he voted yes in order to avoid being shunned by Republicans after he starts his second career. Collins more than likely just went along with the party line like everyone else, as for Manchin, I suspect he voted yes because he's an assclown who often votes along Republican lines. But, that's just an opinion.

Mitch is playing the short game, more like Poker or Rock Paper Scissors on steroids. Democrats are playing the long game, like Chess or Go.

No Mitch is sacraficing a midterm but that was likely anyways for 30 years of conservative rulings on the court.

Especially since this year's election map in the Senate is the most one sided since George III appointed people.

I get Manchin and the deep red State democrat position and all. But, seriously this is one of those votes its inconceivable that a Democrat can vote to confirm. The guy literally in his hearing blasted crazy conspiracy theories about Democrats. I don't care what he "regrets" later the day of vote in his Op Ed. The guy is clearly biased against Democrats and the left. What even makes Manchin a Dem at this point?

If the vote tomorrow goes as expected then Democrats got chumped. They weren't playing 7th dimensional chess. They played Jinga and started at the bottom.

I keep hearing being an actual Democrat is the most important thing. Not like a certain independent who votes consistently with the Democrats.
But hey it's Cloture right? It's not like they plan to shit on Mitch tomorrow.

There could also be a pretty surreal scenario that occurs. One of the Republicans who’s pretty much a definite yes vote is heading to Montana on Saturday for his daughters wedding. So assuming someone else flips you could see a an open vote held of 49 yes - 50 no. Where the tieing and deciding vote (Pence breaks ties) is having a media firestorm on him tjebday of his daughters wedding until he can fly back to DC on Sunday and travel to the Senate to cast his vote. Which could be one if the most hostile scenarios ever.
