You can bet on conservative mouthpieces complaining that this shouldn't be a law since it's something that only effects less than 1% of the population.

More likely they will confuse intersex with transgender or claim they don't exist and that it all part of a gay conspiracy.

It's funny to hear things about "the big gay conspiracy" which should totally be the name of a Nancy Drew book or something.

What's the end game of that? People being addressed the way they want to be and in regards to a changed sex. Maybe even feeling safe to be in public.

Meanwhile the deep south are actually campaigning to forcibly convert this nation into a christian Hell hole, push for straight conversion "therapy", and are also much of the same base that put Trump in the White House.

Just saying, the Gay conspiracy really is the significant lesser of the actual evils in politics.

It's been nearly 3 decades since conservatives have warned decent citizens against the dastardly nefarious gay agenda but I still haven't been able to find out what is the gay agenda.

Adding an option to a document that is typically assigned once per person in order to increase accuracy doesn't seem onerous.

Official recognition of the existence of a minority makes Alex Jones cry.

No, it doesn't, does it? But I wonder what your excuse will be, Mets, when conservatives inevitably argue that it is, in fact, somehow onerous.

Well you see, it's a grand scheme by every nefarious element of society to turn all of our boys into these flamboyant, limp-wristed queens instead of the burly, macho, and muscular cops, construction workers, and Indian chiefs that God intended them to be...

I'll say they're wrong, and move on.

Even when they pass anti-transgender laws? Just move on, nothing to see here.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Haven't you heard? They are locking people up in Canada for using the wrong LGBT pronouns! It's all about ending the judo-christian principles that created society and ending the marriages of straight people.

The question was about how I would discuss some conservatives having a hypothetical opinion about a specific German law dealing with intersex infants. It's not about transgender issues, American legislation, or something that has actually happened yet.

An incoming Senator discusses Trump's poor character in an Op-Ed.

The Trump presidency made a deep descent in December. The departures of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, the appointment of senior persons of lesser experience, the abandonment of allies who fight beside us, and the president’s thoughtless claim that America has long been a “sucker” in world affairs all defined his presidency down.
To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.

The world is also watching. America has long been looked to for leadership. Our economic and military strength was part of that, of course, but our enduring commitment to principled conduct in foreign relations, and to the rights of all people to freedom and equal justice, was even more esteemed. Trump’s words and actions have caused dismay around the world. In a 2016 Pew Research Center poll, 84 percent of people in Germany, Britain, France, Canada and Sweden believed the American president would “do the right thing in world affairs.” One year later, that number had fallen to 16 percent.

This comes at a very unfortunate time. Several allies in Europe are experiencing political upheaval. Several former Soviet satellite states are rethinking their commitment to democracy. Some Asian nations, such as the Philippines, lean increasingly toward China, which advances to rival our economy and our military. The alternative to U.S. world leadership offered by China and Russia is autocratic, corrupt and brutal.

The world needs American leadership, and it is in America’s interest to provide it. A world led by authoritarian regimes is a world — and an America — with less prosperity, less freedom, less peace.
    Interesting start for Senator Romney.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets
