People say they like these things to pollsters and then... don't vote it. When you add a 'for white people' to the end of the 'medicare for all' sentence, it makes a lot more sense.

Tendrin did not mean "don't vote it!" as a suggestion, though, but as a description of their behavior.

Dana Loesch: Democrats are “trying to Al Capone the president”

    Wait, what?

And that’s exactly what they’re using campaign finance for, an already unconstitutional set of laws to pull it off. They’re trying to Al Capone the president. I mean, you remember. Capone didn’t go down for murder. Elliot Ness didn’t put him in for murder. He went in for tax fraud. Prosecutors didn’t care how he went down as long as he went down. The same goes for Democrats. Whatever avenue is needed to bring down the president, they’ll take it.
So either they believe that Capone was innocent, or they know that Trump is guilty and want him to rule anyway.

I can't find anything in the story about when the alleged affair happened. Was it recent in 2015 when the contract was signed, or was the kid already a teenager?

As all of this seems based on bad soap opera plots, we have probably seen Trump's illegitimate child in some role.

To be fair, regular voters aren't getting campaign donations from the insurance and pharmaceutical companies. I wonder how many of them would change their minds in exchange for enough cash?

    No. It really isn't.

The popularity of progressive positions in polls only makes sense in the context of how people vote if you add a silent 'for white people'.

Members of the GOP support 'medicare for all', but vote regularly for people who would in fact strip health care from non-white working class Americans more commonly specifically because the only medicare for all they want is just medicare for all white people. That's why the poll that you're linking to suggest that they can be reached is missing the point. They don't vote for medicare for all. If they did, they wouldn't have voted for politicians who gutted Medicaid expansion and don't want public health care at /all/. They might tell a pollster they like it, but then they go out of their way to vote the tribe instead because protecting their conception of America's traditional identity as a white, male run Christian nation, is more important than an abstract conception of 'medicare for all'.

Didn't we see just yesterday that there are white people who consider themselves to be on the left of Democrats, but will still drag out racist tropes and agree with the white supremacists that have infected the Yahoo comments section?

Just because you support something doesn't mean you'll vote for it in a million years. A high percentage of the GOP electorate may support Medicare for all, but they support guns for all, an abortion ban, and the "religious" right to be a complete racist prick a whole lot more.

This takes me back to how a few years ago, GOP voters would support Obamacare, as long as you only described the terms to them without telling them who came up with it.

Conversely, Hillary Clinton supported universal healthcare from the very beginning as it was her first signature legislation, yet many Americans -- "progressive" or otherwise -- still chose not to vote for her in the last election.

If people wanted universal health care that badly we'd have it by now -- they would vote in the candidates (like Hillary) who support it and said candidates would enact it into law. It's not a complex problem at all -- it's just a matter of people voting for what they want in their government.

Instead we have a Republican Senate, Congress, and President because many voters couldn't even be bothered to show up for "universal health care" in the last election (against Trump of all people -- who made running against affordable healthcare one of his mainstays) much less in the mid-term primaries.

That said, all of this rhetoric is essentially useless to me -- don't blame the politicians for the fact that we don't have universal health care, blame the voters.

Maybe Americans will wake up and join the rest of the civilized world in the near future but I know better than to expect better of the American voter given the last few elections -- not to mention the few times Democrats have blown their chances at legislating a solid universal health care plan due to infighting.

We'll see how it goes this time around -- it's a longshot, but maybe the Feds openly targeting Republican corruption will change the entire dynamic.
