I don't think the Greek Gods/Pantheon has ever been more overt that subtle symbolism, so it's never mattered much to me. It's not like we get a 12-man roster that much anymore anyways.

And I think people are underestimating the versatility of stretching/elastic powers.

I don't think Oracle was meant to be a God. Just, well, an oracle I think Wonder Woman would be the Aphrodite stand in, or Hera.
From Morrison’s interview with Wizard Magazine it was suppose to be :
    Superman- Zeus
    Batman-Hades
    Hippolyta/Diana-Hera
    Aquaman-Poseidon
    Zauriel-Aphrodite
    Orion-Ares
    Oracle-Athena
    Kyle-Apollo
    Wally-Hermes
    Steel-Hephaestus
    Huntress-Artemis
    Plastic Man-Dionysus
    Big Barda-Demeter or Hestia
    Martian Manhunter-extra?????

I’m not saying Ralph and Sue are bad ( they’re great for who they are) but did he need to be added to the big League team back in the day when it could have went to guys like Metamorpho or Black Lightning?
Narrativly, it was more a matter of fit From Day One, Metamorpho had been positioned as a different kind of character than what the League featured; more reluctant victim of circumstance than superhero. Elongated Man, on the other hand, was created to be much more an enthusiastic hero looking for trouble.

As I recall it, DC of the time also had pretty firmly siloed editorial fiefdoms. I don't know if that played a role, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I've never liked Kyle's mask, nor his 90's / current costume (too much white IMO).
Actually, I prefer him as White Lantern.

The best Kyle ever looked was when he briefly wore Hal's outfit.

I do not really like the idea of characters just hosting some entity.
The Spectre is way better if it actually is Jim, instead of him just being the host of its spirit.

To continue I think just using hosts is a waste of a character. I’d actually prefer using them as legacies and that’s saying a lot.

Well, yeah, but Guy had his own style of uniform too so I'm not really holding that against Kyle.

True, but there were enough visual cues to say Guy was still a part of the corp. Kyle's was just... too much. Too much black, Goofy fingerless gloves, that clam mask thing... A whole new insignia... I know they were trying to go with a complete fresh start... but Nothinga about that costume ever looked like 'Green Lantern' to me.

This one on the other hand still had the traditional mask and a more traditional... 'shape'... while still being it's own thing. I kind of dug that suit for Kyle.

Though now 30 years later, its' hard to see Kyle in anything but his original suit/mask... but It never screamed 'Green Lantern' to me.

Well, Kyle at his inception wasn't part of the Corps. and was kind of an isolated, solo, Lantern so I think it made sense to go for something visually distinctive from the norm.

I hate the "emotional spectrum" thing. I think it's stupid, inconsistent as to what an emotion is, and not needed.
