Welp, watched the first episode of the new NGE dub and...I'm not impressed. Especially since Netflix couldn't even afford to buy the rights to Fly Me to The Moon.

So yeah, I'm sticking with the original ADV/Manga Entertainment DVDs.

TBH I kind of prefer Shinji and Asuka's voices here they actualy sound like kids in this dub. Not a fan of some of the tranlation choices tough

The voice actors sound good, but the delivery and chemistry is just lacking compared compared to the original dub. And I miss the gratuitous German in Asuka's dialogue.

I would say they were great in that regards by the time of the Rebuild dub but I don't think the original dubs hammy delivery has aged all that well.

While I think Tiffany Grant was good when it came to the overbearing side of Asuka I don't think she ever quite got the more vulnrable aspects of the character down. I do kind of think her new voice captures that aspect of the character better.

As I said earlyer I have much bigger issues with them picking loyalty to the Japanese version over what sounds better in English (using Children as a singuler just sounds awkward).

Don't get me wrong I have nostalgia for the original dub too. But when I look at it without those goggles on, The EoE dub still holds up and the Rebuild dub holds up, but the tv series dub, not so much.

big mom is............surprisingly kind after losing her memory.

and now luffy has to master a new haki technique while dealing with a pissed off big mom.

Big Mom was a decent kid. She got warped along the way by her experiences, but she was always a sweet person who enjoyed family a lot and food too much at her base level.

That last panel with the old man placing his faith in Luffy as he faces off with Big Mom has thrown me aboard the hype train.

Blood everywhere. Weird deviant characters everywhere. Exploding dudes.
