Shame I think a lot of Ennis' criticism of the superhero genre are valid. But he just isn't good at delivering those criticisms through his works. He easily does his best stuff when he stays far away from superheroes.

Just to note, while the comic is just utterly woeful, I think the adaptation process could be good for the property. I just hope they avoid... a lot of things... that happen in the series.

It's The Boys. The comic could be summed up as: "Superheroes suck, you suck for liking them, now here's this totally mature story with swearing and pedophilia and rape and gorn and nudity and the superheroes being a bunch of a-holes and monsters and our main chars are douchebags! MATURE!"

Executive meddling and director's vision did managed to make Kick-Ass substantially more palatable, after all.

OTOH all I know about The Boys is the Seven's recruitment process and so I checked out before I started.

Never heard it but I would have assumed that the second I saw it was an Ennis work

I've read it. I didn't buy it, I just sat in some bookshops and ran through it as the new books came out.

It is like... peak Ennis. There are like... three semi-decent ideas in there but they are buried beneath later upon layer of shock value sexualized violence and so on.

Also, if I see the word "Herogasm," in this new movie, I will set someone on fire.
