Yeah, it's ugly. :P

I mean, there are places here close to Ottawa (swamps) where you go in at the wrong time of the year and your back is basically a fuzzy carpet that looks WORSE than the picture, above. It's...absolutely disgusting (when I say 'furry carpet', I am not exaggerating - it's almost vomit-inducing gross when someone on a BIKE goes by you and you can barely see the color of the shirt they're wearing from mid-back up to their shoulders). But that's specific places, at specific times of year.

Northern Canada and Alaska are like that picture pretty much everywhere when the temperature goes up. Non-stop. And I'm 100% sure that at their worse times, they're worse than the places hereabouts.

Edit: now I've managed to gross myself out with the memory of that cyclist, ugh. :P

It's getting a BIT better up here, mostly due to the heat but if you go anywhere above the Arctic Circle proper, make sure you bring one person you're willing to sacrifice; as the Mosquitoes will carry someone off never to be seen again. Also, stay away from Mosquito Lake.
