But I will laugh hard if anyone who complains about my Jackson griping does any whining about another series. :)

Edit: on the other hand, anyone who hasn’t complained about my griping who is unhappy with another show will receive my instant sympathy. ^_^

I really am not looking forward to this.

Buuut. Amazon does have a better track record for adaptations than Netflix, so, maybe hope hasn't forsaken this land quite yet.
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran

Yeah. Especially since I think one of the focuses will be Young Galadriel and her escapades through the Second Age.

They’re gonna need to make up A LOT (other than her telling Annatar/Sauron to GTFO).

They’ve cast a 5’3” actress as Galadriel, for crying out loud…she wasn’t in her early teens (for Elves) in the Second Age!

I'm trying to focus more on original properties wherever possible.

If I don't watch the adaptations, they can't hurt me.

The next big adaptation thing that I'm interested in watching is Sandman, I guess? Mostly because I am curious as to how the adaptation is going to work. Good Omens turned out decent for the most part and Neil Gaiman seems confident he can make Sandman work as well.

Oh, that and the new Aquaman cartoon because I like the animation.

Agreed - I’ll try anything Gaiman has his hand in, for two reasons: he likes to stay very faithful to the themes and characters, and he tends to retain creative control and sticks to his guns.

Amazon didn’t want Tennent, for example. Gaiman resisted them all the way up to a month before startup, or something like that, and finally said ‘Welp, I guess no show.’ Amazon caved, and later admitted he was correct in his choice.

    They had wanted Johnny Depp.

Booo, who comes up with these lines
As WTF as that line is, and it is, I feel like providing a bit of context: That lady was actually heavily hitting on Jet while they were asking her for some intel for a bounty. It was a hologram meeting.

    Also!

    spoilers:

Radical Edward shows up at the end of the season to tell Spike about Vincent Volaju. So it looks Season 2 will be adapting elements of the movie. The opening of the show even adapts the robbery scene from the movie's opening scene in a space casino.

But as we saw with Good Omens, he's willing to adapt his stuff for the screen and make key changes to make it work, which shows intelligence as a screenwriter.

All I'll say is; the concept of casting Crowly with an actor from outside the British Isles is, in my opinion, abject madness. The less said of Depp the better.

    The audiobook cast is ridiculous.

Absolutely. He stays faithful to themes and characters, but not slavishly faithful to every detail of the story. He keeps the essentials while maintaining flexibility, which for me is great.

    .

    Agreed.

I cannot imagine how they thought Tennent would be bad but Depp would be good. And that’s speaking as someone who didn’t love Tennent in Dr Who. Didn’t much like the character, but as he does with all of his acting, Tennent BROUGHT IT.

    One Piece:

Eiichiro Oda continues showing his knowledge of the secrets of prehistoric reptiles, this time being the Pteranodon.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

I'm genuinely surprised at how much I am enjoying Apoo as a character.

I am shameless fan for the inveterate schemer who is constantly looking for an angle even when the **** has definitely hit the fan.

This encapsulates my feelings (fear) with the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation. The casting's been hit or miss, and I'm terrified it's going to be another bomb like the movie was. The OG creators leaving the project does nothing to quell that fear.
