Shin is its own separate continuity to either Eva Classic or the remake.

The premise of the Shin stories are a more realistic take compared to their source material - Shin Godzilla, for example, is a Godzilla movie told from the perspective of mid-level government bureaucrats and is more about the failings of governance in the face of a disaster in progress.

It's kind of rad and a good repurposing of Godzilla as a signifier from the spectre of nuclear war to a spectre of climate change.

Totally cool with that, and I like the theme of which you speak - makes perfect sense, good explanation. Not like we've not seen ample evidence of that, between Covid, Climate Change, etc.

I get the liking for it, even if I don't share it. I will say that I like it until it becomes the particle beam/cutting torch breath; that part is visually appealing, I admit, but I really just want to see the atomic fire barf. ^_^

So, Fire Force finally ended today. The conclusion to the series itself was satisfying, though I felt that it wrapped up a little too succinctly in some areas. It also looks like Okubo's next work is either going to be a sequel to Soul Eater or a potential crossover between it and Fire Force. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

As far as I know, this isn't a conventional cinematic universe a la Marvel. It's more of a thematic connection
