God, it's so hard to resist the temptation of reading that
That is also an option.
But besides the continuation everybody silently hyping up Ippo for when he never returns to the ring, this was a really fun chapter.
Mashima's garbled words of gratitude and Ippo's reaction was a great moment, and I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of Ippo's rivals in one place again. Hopefully it's not the start of all of them losing world champion matches.
Ugh.
Yeah, I get something different: people carefully and condescendingly trying to inform me that spider bites can't kill me so I shouldn't be afraid of them. Annoying. Like, I know that 99.95% of spiders aren't dangerous, and we don't have any of the dangerous ones here? And if we did, they likely wouldn't come near me?
This is not a logical fear, it's an irrational thing, literally an anxiety disorder connected to other issues in my life.
I get it, Mr./Ms. Explainer, you're an expert on spiders. Now go educate yourself on phobias. Ugh.
Absolutely true. Granted, I have read that Brown Recluse spiders react aggressively to threats and then proceed to put themselves into situations where they get threatened - ie, they feel cornered they will attempt to bite, but choose hiding places that match up well with their name (tiny spaces, etc)...and when something happens to 'invade' that tiny space, well...out they come, looking to bite. Ie, you have a Hot Wheels car with a hatchback, the spider goes in the small hatchback that has only one exit, you open up the tiny hatchback not even knowing the spider is there, the spider thinks 'ahhh, I'm cornered and being attacked!' and *chomp*. That kind of thing.
Not like their venom will automatically kill people - it doesn't - but necrosis and potential massive allergic attacks suck. Not something anyone wants.
Why are we here?
"Superboy Prime (the yelling guy if he needs clarification)..." - Postmania
"...dropping an orca whale made of fire on your enemies is a pretty strong opening move." - Nik
"Why throw punches when you can be making everyone around you sterile mutant corpses?" - Pendaran, regarding Dr. Fate
Knights of the Apocalypse: Percy shows us some rather menacing qualities. Tristan has grown quite a lot since we last saw him (hope his movie comes out soon). Percy's friends are good friends.
Edens Zero: So... was that the real Ziggy peeking through or just a ploy? And Shiki is apparently more dangerous than expected.
Dandadan
Spring of Drowned...???
Weird twist.

Funny, I'm not fond of many of these things, it's just that I don't have a fear of spiders, snakes, etc.
However, I do have a major fear. Basophobia, extreme fear of falling, which manifests in many ways: Bridge anxiety (fear of falling off of bridges), Driving anxiety (fear of losing control due to driving too fast), fear of amusement park rides, and so on.
One benefit, I've become rather cat-like in my ability to land on my feet or stay upright.

Man... I do not care for how redraw One Punch Man is going at the moment.
The dynamics at play now are so toothless compared to the original.
Who ordered the Pickles?!
(And oh God, I forgot all about what proceeds during *this* scene from the manga. Goddammit, Itagaki.)
Ichigo: What even *are* you?!
Kenpachi: Some say my mother was a train. Some say that I'm a rejected Godzilla monster too strong for the series canon. But everyone says: I'M THE KEEEEENPACHIIIIII!!!!
Oh, just stuff. Like how ordinary people will be fine dealing with a horse that's offering them a book, or clearly trying to communicate, then say things like 'Don't be stupid, horses can't ride trains!' It's like reality has been twisted about 90 degrees for this manga in a rather ridiculous fashion. But it's consistent and amusing rather than annoying.
As for what just happened...um, hero team is going after Lord (forget their name) in the enormous temple and has just split up.
Yeah, the manga is ridiculous, but again, it's in a consistent fashion (another example - the exact manner in which Gash and Tia charge toward things O_o) that amuses and delights rather than frustrates and bounces me out of the story. This is how things go in their world. This is how people are. Likely some parody and social commentary happening as well, but I'm too busy being amused.
And yeah, the various powers and demons are sometimes somewhat ridiculous or just bizarre, but at the same time we see some rather incredible strategies come out of that ridiculous stuff.
It's like the series just embraces its incredible weirdness without any thought of cringe, and then USES that as a vehicle to drive plot and character development. ^_^
Loving it.
I feel, based on discussion, that most people are creeped out to at least some extent by snakes and spiders. Movement is very alien, they have bad reps, people are afraid of venoms, etc. For myself, having handled snakes from a young age I'm not at all worried about them (Edit: other than the actually venomous ones), but I completely understand if other people are, and I 100% understand phobias. Heck, it's the same with spiders - some people aren't creeped out by them at all.
Bell curves. ^_^
Phobias being somewhat different than 'have a natural fear of snakes and spiders because Reasons', of course, being literally classed as an Anxiety Disorder. And they often have nothing actually to do with the fear, itself (mine seems tied to my self-confidence and childhood trauma, and I am fully aware that at least in my situation spiders are 99.9995% harmless - there's nothing sufficiently venomous around here, and while wolf spiders can get awfully large, they're not dangerous at all).
Edit: Amusingly, the wiki entry states that specific phobias should be treated with exposure therapy. I tried that. It...didn't work out, and in fact my phobia got worse at that time (bleah, bad memories). Maybe it would work better now, and certainly over the years I've become more desensitized to spiders - my phobia no longer rules me in the same way it did when I was in my teens (part of this having also to do with no longer having crippling lack of confidence, I suspect). Getting surprised by a large one or the sight (even in photographs) of one of the really big kinds can still provoke a full-on phobic reaction, though, and I still have anxiety over that kind of thing (as illogical as that might be).
Sorry to hear that - sounds rather miserable. However, I do have a major fear. Basophobia, extreme fear of falling, which manifests in many ways: Bridge anxiety (fear of falling off of bridges), Driving anxiety (fear of losing control due to driving too fast), fear of amusement park rides, and so on.

Phobias suck.
