I had completely forgotten that the opening includes Ranma, Akane, and Panda-Genma going through perfectly acceptable (if fast) Yang Taiji. ^_^

I’m not going to get into the black vs white revisionism subject, but on this point, that was really the British press who just invented this image of him as short to mock him and undermine his credibility.

But he was actually around 5’7”, which in those days was definitively not short.

The version I heard was it started as a difference in French and British units. Like, he said he was 5'4", because that's what he was under the French feet and inches, but the British had smaller units, so he was like 5'8" under their system. So the British took the fact that he said he was 5'4" to call him short and the papers just exaggerated it to cartoonish levels for propaganda.

When it comes to giving a series a reboot that stay closer to the source material (aka the Brotherhood treatment), there's one anime that tops my list.
