finished the first season of "castlevania: nocturne".

overall, i liked it but it wasn't as good as the latter seasons of the OG show. but then again, this is an entirely new cast, so we gotta grow to like them.

richter is young and not the chad trevor was but he had a nice bit of cocky charm that i dug. his trauma over what happened to his mom was a nice touch.

maria is the little powerhouse she was. her backstory about her parents was cool. but her constant talk revolution got on my nerves after a while.

i did like the changes to annette, making her the castlevania version of magneto, as well as a former slave. at least they gave her something to do and have some agency, instead of just being richter's gf that he needed to save from dracula.

drac isn't the big bad and i'm glad for it. him and lisa got their happy ending. no need to bring him back simply because this is a loose adaptation of "rondo".

the new big bad? not a fan. maybe she will grow on me but she's not working for me. at least not yet.

the abbot is a dumbass. that is all.

olrox was a nice surprise for me. he was a cool wildcard whom you didn't know who's side he was on. his........"relationship" if you wanna call it that with the guard felt tacked on and forced. they should've just kept him single and forever mourning his lover.

like the OG serious, this isn't a 1 to 1 adaptation of "rondo of blood" and it does take characters and cues from other games to create a new narrative. got 2 familiar faces in the show, one i expected to see and the other i did not.
