And....Everything of me asks why this jackass even did this but right, he's just stupid as hell.

Also, what the hell. Does this ******* forgot Bret can't take bumps anymore these days?

...And Bret also recently recovered from cancer too. So what the hell again?!

Some pretty tough news. Looks like my sister's kid is selectively mute, meaning she really wants to keep to herself outside of her home.

    ...She's 5 by the way.

This is something that can be dealt with, something she may even grow out of. I may have had it myself as a child, though I was never officially diagnosed. Back then, my teachers were pulling out their hair (figuratively speaking) trying to get me to talk in school. I have no idea why they never had me evaluated by a professional, it might have helped. (It started when I was 6)

I remember being sent briefly for a kind of speech training, the principal even let me make the announcement over the school speakers that class was beginning and all the students outside could come in. They tried many things to get me to talk more.

In the end, it took a month off from school in eighth grade due to a seriously sprained ankle, where I opened up to my mother. We talked a lot and I finally started to come out of my shell.

Counseling can help as well, there may be many causes.

    Thanks for the talk.

Good news is that she is definitely open with family she knows and spent time with for a long time. It's only outside home she's very shy and opts to do everything herself.

It could be tied in with social anxiety. But if her family is on top of it they will consult with a specialist in pediatric psychology who is trained to deal with problems like this.

He's the kind of idiot who'd try to rob a gun store.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.
