Continuity-wise, it seems this is a story MORE in line with the Original Cass, but it's own separate continuity. Which is fine for me. I'll be happy just to have something resembling the old Cass, but with a fresh take.
Word, nice to see OG Cass making her way back into the public eye.

Speaking of Marvel, new issue of immortal Hulk is out, and he remains real, real good

I've never actually liked them, and they never did anything good for my back -- just the opposite. So...

A part of me says keep an open mind, but then even that part starts to laugh in disbelief.

    Hmm...

I mean, there have been good live action adaptations of manga/anime franchises (Rurouni Kenshin, the japanese Death Note movies, the Bleach movie, Battle Angel: Alita and Speed Racer).

But One Piece has such a massive scope and weird world that it's difficult to see how they'd pull it off in a good way.

I'd contest Bleach, Battle Angel: Alita and Speed Racer being good personally.

Alita especially, that movie was like... too much too quickly and boy did they **** the bed in the third act.

I share people's wariness about One Piece. So much of the tone and feel of that show is tied up in the art style and selling that with live action is really hard.

Saw some more info about this on Twitter.

Oda is apparently quite involved with the production and the budget is rumoured to be higher than GoT.

    That means pretty big scale.

The first series is meant to cover East Blue and they are apparently stressing that this will be an adaptation rather than a direct retelling so - those are all pretty good signs, right?

That means that they're handling the story telling with care. Which is good, but not a gurantee.

And we still have no idea just how this show will look, which is what I think I'm mainly concerned about/befuddled by. Transfering the crazy and super expressive visuals of One Piece into live action is going to be quite the challenge for them.

Fixed that right up for you based on the GoT reference.

The reference was that they might have a bigger budget. So I decided to not go that.
