So, in Doom Eternal, spoilers:

The Doomguy/Slayer actually speaks his first words in the entire series in a flashback sequence. Probably, unsurprisingly, it's "Rip...and...TEAR!" He's also voiced and motion-captured by the english dub actor of Goblin Slayer. Additionally, we see that in said-flashback, Doomguy is clearly exhibiting PTSD from fighting demons back in the classic Doom series.
