    I never learned how to do that in BT! Maybe they only taught it to the guys.

    One of the biggest mysteries of my childhood/teenage years is that I never, ever, remember encountering a comic book anywhere. Bookstores, newsstands, I don't remember seeing comic books until I got to college.

    Very strange. Especially since I grew up right across the hudson from NYC, where most of them were being published.

    That is bizarre, given comics were a staple of magazine racks for a long time. I remember seeing them on shelves in random drug stores and grocery stores as a kid. Book and toy stores, too. It wasn't until the late-80s, I thought, that they really started getting horded by the comic book shops. Even then, I could find new issues of JLA at a local general store in the late 90s.
