Allison Mack's cult leader arrested in Mexico

As you've probably already heard, Keith Reniere, leader of the NXIVM cult, was arrested in Mexico recently. Now, there are plenty of sources for this but this particular one has video of what appears to be Mack and another actress as he's being arrested. They both followed the police in another car and supposedly tried to stop the arrest. It's unclear if she is facing any charges yet. Mack supposedly helped recruit as many as 25 girls for Reniere and is reported to be his second in command. So I doubt she'll be walking away from this regardless of how it pans out. As a fan of Smallville, I am hugely disappointed in her and sorry to hear that any of this happened.

never was a big fan of her during Smallville when I binge watched it a few years, though I probably would have liked and accepted her more if I was watching the show as it was airing and cared for more stuff besides just seeing clark,lois,etc instead of a oc character who randomly got paired with green arrow.

Still, this is pretty sad to see this is where she went with her life.

It's certainly a good example of separating the performer from the character but people who get deeply involved in cults have deep and unsatisfied emotional needs so we can only wish she comes out of this okay.

I dont have as much sympathy for her as she was someone recruiting, selling and blackmailing people into having sex with Renier. That puts her at monster level for me. I do hope, as with most everyone, not specific for her, that she does get help and comes out of this a better person...but her reported actions in this are detestable.

I suppose it will all come down to whether or not she was a willing participant or if she was a victim of brainwashing. Cults prey on the weak-willed, after all.
