In the comics, we usually see Diana tie Supes with the lasso to get him back to sanity after he loses control for some reason. Used as a playfully thing between them is very very rare.

If it hasn’t been known it should be known by now. With all the art, couple cosplay/engagements/wedding/maternity shoots, merch etc...even without the exposure it should and deserve to have, Superman and Wonder Woman has the history and foundation together of being an iconic couple in it’s own right.

AMAZING. SMWW is acknowledged everywhere, in all walks of life, except obviously by the myopic DC comics. This is what iconic means. Physical representation of something that made an impact.

Something that is iconic is characteristic of an icon — an image, emblem, idol, or hero. Iconic often describes something or someone that is considered symbolic of something else, like spirituality, virtue, or evil and corruption

In this case SMWW represents and are imagery for Love, Equality, Strength, Heroism, etc. They represent the zeitgeist. Their imagery is all over from art galleries to clothing to perfumes etc . That is power when something can take on a life of its own with very little help from DC/WB because DC does not give SMWW the same exposure many other couples get in live medium like TV or movies. The Kiss by Jim Lee and this one from DC Presents, Mike Deodato's piece and Tony's Selfie are probably some of the most used romantic DC images outside of the niche comic community. It is on tattoos, licensed tees, art, cakes, merch etc.

I think when it comes to merch and marketing products companies don't care about DC mandates. I'm guessing SMWW merch will continue no matter what. And this helps the smww concept get bigger and bigger. It's subliminal in a way when they make package them as one, the message that SMWW belong together.

Last Son: So what you are saying is that, despite all of everything else, there needs to be a movie to solidify them as “iconic”?

In a way, I find it an unfair assessment. A couple can have movie exposure..,even multiple times, however still does not make the impact SMWW has made without it. Of course it would be great just overall to have a movie but for a movie to determine whether they are an iconic couple or not, seems unreasonable. IMO, “iconic” is now just like other titles/labels/words/phases that have been used now a days so often, it has turned into meaningless buzz titles/labels/words/phrases. Superman and Wonder Woman (even with being two separate franchises) have become one in most of the general audiences eyes because for so many years they have been marketed together as a couple. Despite whatever the status quo is, Superman and Wonder Woman has constantly sold successfully together and represents a positive message together. That should and deserve to be considered iconic anyway regardless.
