A definte missed opportunity is more Hippolyta and Kal mother and son-in-law dynamic. Even with Kal and Diana as best friends, Hippolyta would have her reservations about him thinking he is like Zeus or Hercules. Would’ve loved new52 Hippolyta’s perspective.

Kal dealing with the Gods AND the Amazons opens up a flood gate of ideas and challenges for him. The Amazons would see him as a God but don’t trust him. The Gods, as we saw in Soule’s run, Apollo thinks Kal is beneath him, Strife fan girls but likes to of course stir the pot and Eros is very much on Kal and Diana’s side.

They would be challenges of political aspects, a small battle of the sexes with the distrust of the Amazons with the companion of their princess / future queen (how they would deal with the idea of ​​a prince consorte or perhaps king?), Religious, moral ... all, absolutely all aspects can be addressed! In addition a solo story with Hippolyta and SM being one of the most awaited in my life since Kal delivered the wounded Diana to her Mother in Our Worlds at War!

Yes! It definitely needs to be a challenge for the writers/artists. More often than not, writers tend to go the easy route and go for bare minimum, overhyping it to make it seem like it’s something big when it’s not. These characters shouldn’t be at the bare minimum, these kind of ideas should be explored to not only open up the gates of ideas, but a bigger imagination and thought process(es) of the writers.
