And for this specific book, Brisson was quoted as saying "your back issues matter". If it happened to these characters it counts, or something to that effect. It's right there on the back page of the comic we're talking about. I don't have it in front of me, but I recall that's the jist of it.

I thought it was just how he sees the characters differently maybe. Like, with Jean being more hardened and reserved while Rachel is more vulnerable emotionally... Jean did look sad for me on that panel where she firsts sees him, and the way she says "My son...".

Personally, I read Jean as seething with anger but trying to keep it in check. She's a leader now, not just symbolically but a literal calling-the-shots leader and she was THE senior X-Man in that room. I think she's taking charge which means keeping cool while people around you are breaking down. I don't expect her to be completely emotionless for the whole story, but for the context of the scene I had no issue with how she was written.

It'll certainly take quite a twist for that to actually be the 2nd Cable and that to actually be a scene from the book.

I'm expecting some kind of fakeout. Of course, they COULD very well pull a twist with Young Cable being a good guy/on the right side of things. If he's aiming to send the dupes back, I hope he is successful.
