I’ve always wished, in the modern-day comics, she would return to this energy signature. It would be super-distinctive and would set her apart greatly from other tepes/tekes.

Was this what you were thinking of? Funnily enough, my google search for Jean power signatures directed me to a lot of posts from the old Jean Appreciation thread. It's kind of sad the threads were rebooted since there was a lot of good stuff there.

Edit: ha, Conor posted the same image right before me. It's interesting how modern and vintage coloring can make the same image look very different.

I don't think so, as far as i know the fox movies and the marvel comics weren't related. some people think that perlmutter had some kind of feud or recentment for the cinematic rights and tried to sideline the x-men for the inhumans, so the relationship between movies and comics wasn't probably a good one or at least one that synergized much.

I believe it's thanks to Bendis Jeen showing that she still can kick ass and this probably led to adult Jean's resurrection and huge focus.

Yeah, but they put out Apocalypse Wars when X-Men: Apocalypse came out and admitted that was made due to the movie.

But they did release a new New Mutants book which was supposed to coincide with the delayed film. Shatterstar got his upcoming mini greenlit bc he was set to appear in Deadpool 2

With that said, I dont think Jean was brought back bc of Dark Phoenix. They could have done yet another Phoenix story without her to tie into that film.

It’s no surprise Emma has more votes, Jean has been dead for over a decade. Sadly.

Jean's return is still new. After being gone for 14 years, believe it or not, some do not consider Jean Grey a main stay of the X-Men. A majority of Emma fans don't like her and would prefer she stay dead, many Cyclops fans now consider her as part of his 2nd best pairing. Thanks to Grant Morrison, quite a few fan avenues no longer overflow where Jean is concerned.

Polls like this show that Jean's White Hot nonsense came at a price in terms of intricacy to the Franchise. Will she get it back? Time and tide will tell.
