Before it was reported who were the runner-ups for the Batgirl casting yesterday, fans on social media wanted Anya Taylor-Joy, Emma Stone, or Jane Levy for the role of Batgirl.
Zoey Deutch is also the daughter of Lea Thompson ( better knowns as Lorraine Baines in the Back to the Future trilogy) who is also a director. She directed an episode of Stargirl and I believe I read somewhere that she will return to direct in Stargirl season 2.

I didn't know the Aquaman sequel would be filming in the UK as well. I wonder if any of the characters will put in a cameo appearance?

Anyways, my excitement for this film has gone ever since it was announced it was going to be a streaming exclusive and the main villain was Firefly. Like they needn't have burned the barn for a Batgirl movie but this makes Birds of Prey seem like a big budget movie. These casting choices also reflect the same.

Streaming is the way much of the industry is heading so that doesn't bother me. Five years ago maybe I would've been offended, but Marvel has effectively flipped all that on its head.

I think that might change, although I guess since she's appearing in the Flash movie that might make a difference.

I don't think it's because they view it as a Bat movie being risky. It's because they really, really need stuff to get people to buy HBO Max subscriptions.
