    This could be fun.

Plas could be any gender (I mean any of these characters could be), it's really not a big deal.

Ideally a big budget animated flick for all ages would be perfect. Do it in the style of Jack Cole's art.

I guess you could change genders and still keep the core character intact, but ideally you'd think the gender would inform the character to some extent...and then you're also potentially limiting the role of other characters who are originally female to begin with.

    It doesn't matter that much.

Someone has an idea for a Plas movie and Plas is female.

I think being a dude informs Eel O'Brien's personality a fair bit, but that's just my take.

If you want to make a Plastic Man movie, wouldn't you want to, I dunno, use Plastic Man ?

    Yep.

BTW, what is the success rate for these recent gender-bending films? Seems pretty low, if memory serves me.

Yes, and I would point out to WB that DC still has one or two....hundred female hero character you don't have to gender bend that have not yet appeared in live action, some of whom can certainly hold out at least an HBO Max movie or series. They don't have to gender flip a male character to have a female led movie if that's what they want.

If the movie is successful, certainly. If it's not, less so.

Is it too much of a coincidence that the one relatively known DC superhero without a female spinoff, is being adapted as a superheroine for a film?

I guess the Spectre would be another one.

Unless you count Rita Farr, even though she has nothing to do with either Plastic Man or Elongated Man despite having basically the same powers.

I would say the issue here is that reboots in general behave poorly, not because females star in them. A plastic woman film would for all intended purposes be an original film to the public.

There was one female spinoff of Elongated Man called Elongated Lass, in an issue of Superboy before Flashpoint.

I’ll have a hard time picturing anyone other than the brilliant April Bowlby playing the character.

Some early reviews are coming out for Wonder Woman 1984 and it looks like another DC victory!
