WB Cancels Darkseid New Gods & Aquaman Trench Films
DC Cancels New Gods And Aquaman Spin Off The Trench
Ava.
Now Wrinkle in Time was a popular book that had at least 5 other versions.
The questions folks had was who was this movie being made for?
Along with the fact it was only released in 6 other countries.
In all reality she is 1-1 with movies in theaters. Her first two were not in theaters. Selma was not a flop.
If that was all that was needed to ax a movie, Zack Snyder would have NEVER been hired. Since he had 3 flops and only 2 hits when he got hired for Man of Steel.New Gods was cancelled the Monday after A Wrinkle In Time bombed. Let’s not kid ourselves.
Doug Ellin's career should have been over after his first two movies BOMBED. All he did was create Entourage for HBO after those flops.
A history of DC at WB for the past 20+ years: the only consistent thing, before Hamada took charge, was the inconsistency in critical reception and box office.

6 Fresh/ 4 Rotten: 3.700B
Summary: WB lucked out when they found Nolan as his films stick out like a sore thumb from all the others. Though to be fair WB wasn’t concerned with DC throughout most of this era as they had big franchises like Harry Potter, Middle Earth and The Matrix to fall back on. Only DC properties we got were Batman related, Superman or based on Vertigo/Graphic Novels DC published. They did try to set up a cinematic universe with Green Lantern but the less said about that the better.
Geoff Johns & Toby Emmerich/Kevin Tsujihara (2013-2018)
Man of Steel 56% 668M
Batman vs Superman 29% 873M
Suicide Squad 26% 747M
Wonder Woman 93% 822M
Justice League 40% 658M
Aquaman 65% 1.15B
2 Fresh/4 Rotten: 4.918B
Summary: The most infamous era of the DC/WB saga and one where the effects are still felt to this very day. This era was born out of a need for a big franchise (WB no longer had Harry Potter proper, Middle Earth or Matrix to fall back on and Disney had just made a killing the year prior with their first team up movie The Avengers). Man of Steel was turned into a launching pad for the DCEU and films like BVS and SS were meddled with and rushed into production, the rest is history. DC Films was founded in May of 2016 as a result of BVS bombing critically and underperforming based on studio expectations. Geoff John’s and John Berg were put in charge, which effected Wonder Woman, Justice League and Aquaman but was too late to effect Suicide Squad. Of course Justice League bombed critically and underperformed financially (we won’t go into details since all that is known) and things were changed yet again, which is where the next era comes in...Enter Walter Hamada, Exit Kevin Tsujihara
Walter Hamada, Toby Emmerich/Ann Sarnoff (2018-)
Shazam 90% 366M
The Joker 68% 1.070B
Birds of Prey 78% 202M
*Wonder Woman 1984 59% 165M
3 Fresh/ 1 Rotten (borderline): 1.803B
Summary: The current era of DC at WB! Walter Hamada was made president of DC Films, taking the roles Geoff Johns and John Berg once filled, Kevin Tsujihara is ousted from WB, replaced by Ann Sarnoff, and Toby Emerich is able to green light films now. ATT also purchases Warner Media during this era. Critically, so far this era is the best of the bunch and box office wise it is off to a good start. Corona effected the box office stats for WW84 and likely The Suicide Squad as well so it is a bit unfair to compare directly to the prior eras. 2022 will be a telling year for how well the Hamada era is going since DC will have 4 HUGE releases that year: A move about their most iconic character (The Batman), A movie starring the biggest actor in the world (Black Adam), The first team up DCEU film in 5 years (The Flash) and A sequel to their highest grossing DC film of all time (Aquaman 2).

Don't forget that justice league mortal film almost got made but because of the writer strike it was canceled.
Why was Justice League Mortal Cancelled?
ResultsThe cancellation of the film was led by the success of The Dark Knight. A Writer's strike also caused the cancellation.
https://cancelled-movies.fandom.com/..._League_MortalJustice League Mortal was permanently cancelled.
A Justice League film was relased in 2017, but it received mixed reviews from critics and audiences and flopped.
In 2021, a Justice League Snyder Cut will be released on HBO Max
What happened to Justice League Mortal?
https://heroichollywood.com/george-m...ion-explained/Despite a completed script and a legendary director at the helm, Justice League: Mortal was put on indefinite hold. That's Hollywood jargon for “cancelled.” Later in 2008, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight opens in theaters to critical and commercial acclaim.Apr 13, 2020

WB is a vipers pit of execs all jockeying for position on the corporate ladder which is why they seem disorganized and have position 'shake ups' so frequently.
It is also sort of funny that WB ousted Alan Horn (for supposedly being old and out of touch) only for him to go to Disney and oversee their recent success.

Of course on the recent slate none of these are on it but they are still listed as in development for the dceu.
Deadshot is the only one so far that does not have a screenwriter, producer or director yet.
Most likely Deadshot will not be made but it's still officially in development,so who knows.
Keep in mind hbo max will be doing 2 films a year down the road, so most, all or some of these above could still be made or none of them.
Anyway dc will have 6 films a year.
2 for hbo max and 4 for the big screen.
Two more just recently below was added officially on the Canceled list.
Harley Quinn vs. the Joker and dceu Untitled The Joker film.
Update on the Canceled list.
Canceled and reworked projects
The Batman : By July 2015, Ben Affleck was in talks to direct, star and co-write a standalone Batman film with Geoff Johns.
Cyborg
Deathstroke
Harley Quinn vs. the Joker
Untitled The Joker film

A pretty solid summary and analysis of WB's handling of their DC/Vertigo properties on the big screen in the 21st Century. You forgot 300 though, arguably the single most influential movie along with The Dark Knight when it comes to WB's creative approach towards their DC films for years to come.
A bat! That's it! It's an omen.. I'll shall become a bat!

Didn’t know if this should be in the other thread or if it could be taken as trolling but here’s an analysis of the impact WW1984 and ZSJL had on HBO MAX
