Zack Snyder’s cut of “Justice League” may have been a hit with fans, but it did little to move the needle for HBO Max subscriptions.

On Thursday, AT&T, which owns WarnerMedia, revealed that its streaming service HBO Max and its premium cable offering HBO added 2.7 million domestic subscribers during the first quarter.

Just days before the highly anticipated release of the Snyder Cut on March 18, WarnerMedia increased its subscriber expectations, predicting between 120 million and 150 million global users for HBO Max and HBO by the end of 2025.

In total, HBO Max and HBO have a combined 44.2 million subscribers domestically, up from the 41.5 million reported at the end of the fourth quarter. Globally, the services have less than 64 million subscribers, but the company is expected to expand its product more widely this year.

Or a general audience weren't that excited for the Snyder Cut.

I would still like to see HBO Max release the full numbers on Snyder Cut.

But yes, I think Snyder Cut has been a fascinating window into how a small vocal group can appear large on social media. Which is something that has always been disputed, but now there are more numbers to back it up. (And I say small but its still like, a sizeable group. Just not as big as it would appear.)

I’m not fully convinced the general audience was aware it was even a thing.

We saw that number a while ago, I'm not sure if there is anything new in that article?

If anything it shows that Twitter trends are very easy to manipulate.

I never saw an add for it on a tv network so that is probably the case.

I did see it included in an ad for HBO Max at my gym, but not sure if that counts.

But any subscribers that came on for WW84 and Godzilla vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat tomorrow would probably see that the Snyder Cut was on there, right? As it is not a new big release but a director's cut of a film released a couple years ago (yeah yeah, I know it's more involved than that) would it be marketed the same way?

In Canada it’s the only thing they’ve been using to advertise Crave. Which is funny because the vast majority in this country hate crave but also the commercials themselves are 4:3 and hella miss leading.

In case was still wondering why that recent HBO Max ad made it sound like there weren't gonna be sequels.

Probably not, but when has anyone ever spend $70 million on a directors cut? Did all of that go to special-effects and not advertising...

Isn't any advertising spending taken out of the fund set up at the beginning of every fiscal rea for a studio?

I have seen analytics that suggest more than 30 million people saw the SC and that is a major success in the streaming world.

Is there a link for the analytics?
