A lot of people who never read the comics, but watched the films, would have a skewed view of Damian. The animated films often cut out some rather important tidbits. Like Damian and Dick working for sometime as the dynamic duo, or Damian changing after he came back to life (like becoming a vegetarian). They skip a lot of his developmental parts that shows Damian's softer sides and his growth from assassin to Boy Wonder.

One of the most common things I've seen that puts people off is that he's kind of a Mary Sue edgelord. He's able to defeat Nightwing and Deathstroke, seems to have few to no weaknesses, and the films are very heavy handed about trying to make him seem cool. He's also very unlikable in personality.

While he is still unrealistically skilled and often a jerk in the comics (especially at the beginning), he is enjoyable and endearing to read in a way he isn't in the films imo. One of the reasons is that the comics depict him as a kid who thinks he's an adult, rather than an adult trapped in a child's body. In the comics, when he says that he should be Batman now, it's meant to be funny because he's ten. When he says that stuff in the films, it feels like we're meant to take him seriously. Framing the character this way takes away a lot of the things that make him fun and endearing. I can't imagine movie Damian ever naming anything Batcow.

I also think one of the main reasons Damian became likable in the first place was his relationship with Dick. In the movies, they pit them against each other, and it's obvious whose side the audience is going to pick.

I also think the Damian films are poorly written in general, so... :/ But, I mean, it's cool that people like them. This is my opinion. I've just always been disappointed in them, personally, especially given how they've shaped people's opinions of the character.

A lot of people who never read the comics love animated Damian. The ones who complain are mostly the comic fans. Animated Damian got me into comics as he did a few others who frequent these threads.

They skip his development? No they don't. Just like Comic Damian animated Damian has one of the most organic developments in comic. We see his relationship evolve slowly just like we did in the comics.

His soft spots are all there on display. Not sure what you are looking to see but I fear some people forget that Damian was a C&*t in Batman and Son. Animated Damian is actually much nicer and likeable than comic Damian.

So again not so smart comic fans since Damian didn't defeat Nightwing or deathstroke. I had no expectations going in so never considered Damian OP.

Going in to see the movie all i knew was that Robin was an 8 year old acrobat named Dick Grayson whose thing was that he kicks grown-man arse dressed in undies.
Deathstroke was a villain who loses to and his TT. Damian didn't seem extraordinary to me at all. He wasn't doing anything unusual.

Let me ask you what was Damian like in batman and Son and before Reborn? Damian in Son of Batman was more likeable than that Damian in Batman and Son. the movies didn't make him unlikable he started off like that.

I've never made a video essay before, but I'm so tempted to make one about him and why the character works in the comics vs. the films.
I don't let stuff like that get to me. My avatar gets hate and has similar videos about him but he also has the highest Merch sales of anyone in MHA and always sweeps the jump popularity polls.

The vocal minority might make a lot of noise what matter is factual figures. Of those movies Judas Contract suffered hard because Damian was played down in promotion and trailers.

There are plenty of positive content about Damian on Youtube and everywhere. I mean make a video if you feel like it but honestly I don't think you need to. A good character stand by it's own merit.

Content like that hasn't stopped his rise not even back in the day before he had any development.

If it makes you feel better most of the big comic channels on Youtube, Comicstorian, Comic Pop etc love him or cite him as favourite Robin. So they only have positive things to say. Sure they are not making I love Damian Wayne videos but it's still positive content.

Most of my friends who've seen the DC animated movies seem to like Damian. I see a lot of hate for Animated Damian much like comics Damian but I also see a lot of love and these days the love far outweighs the hate by a long mile.

I hate seeing biased/hate videos about Damian but I know that that doesn't reflect the real picture. If we go by hate videos and fans hating on characters then Harley and batman must be truly hated.

On the topic of the movies I like Comic Damian more but I don't hate animated Damian. I wish we had more of the movies because we see Damian slowly growing as the Animated Universe progresses.

I love how his relationships with Bruce and Dick are developing. By Judas Contract they are bros.

Damian and Alfred from the New Talent Showcase

By the way how amazing was this story? It was pretty much Catwoman wa*king Damian but as a Damian fan can't complain.

Catwoman W*^king Damian sounds so wrong.

Yes this was a fun read. Poor Penguin how many batfamily members are gonna take him down in a matter of months?

    So from this I learned

    Batman is Catwoman's sidekick
Damian and Catwoman have great Banter
Bruce will dump Selina if anything happens to Damian on her watch [depends on which Bruce we're talking here]
Drake is a menace that must be kept far away from pets and doors
Selina will see red if anyone tries to separate Damian from one of his pets

Selina after shooting horses you don't get to point fingers at others for Animal Abuse.

I liked selina's analysis of Damian.
    A very sweet story indeed.

Nah Timmy's just forgetful. So this was set before Batman 50 because Damian,Tim and selina are still living at the manor.

I agree, except on the horse part. If they were near a vet, that would be one thing. But they were in the middle of the desert. And a lame horse there would have been as good as dead anyway. They ended its suffering quickly.

As for why they didn't go with camels, ask King.

    Personally I hated that scene.

Animal lovers [or anyone who cared even a little] would pick the suitable animal for the journey and why share one horse? Why not use a chopper ? or even better Bruce you pay the guards wages why not have Talia escorted to Gotham along with Holly? Why go there in the 1st place?

They had far too many options that don;t involve dead horses. There is just no excuse.

I really enjoyed this story and want more Selina and Damian. They work well together.
