You must watch it! It’s my favorite anime, I watch it every year. It’s got spectacular characters, wonderful world-building, great music, and a story about brothers. I’m a sucker for “brother” stories and Brotherhood gives me everything I want.

As Gray stated, there’s a character named Roy Mustang who you could consider a Scott expy, so it’s got you covered there.

I know the original version I saw a few eps, He is the one with a kid right?
Actualy what would be the original version of this anime?

I'm not terribly sure about that. Mustang has certain traits, but a lot of those are fairly general traits. There's some Scott (the pragmatic tactician), some Logan (the death seeking atoner for the crimes he wished he could take back), and even a little Emma (using his looks and charm to further his agenda of deception of his enemies)

There's a case to be made for Major Armstrong and Colossus though.

The only thing about Roy that struck me as Scott-like was his tactician mind and great leadership, personality wise they couldn't be more different.

Scott was never as mercilessly cold as Olivier (my favorite character in the series, btw). Olivier and her troops are closer to how Emma's students view her: mercilessly cold and borderline sadistic, but she will fight through heaven and hell to ensure their safety.

You're thinking of Maes Hughes ()

The original anime follows the start of the manga, but branches off. It comes off as more serious in tone, with a philosophical bent. I would watch it at least for the first dozen episodes.

The second anime (Brotherhood) completely follows the manga, and as such has characters and interactions the original does not. It also copies the manga style for a more light-hearted approach in general, with the tone only getting serious in extreme moments.

They are both fantastic in their own ways.

You are thinking of Maes Hughes.

The original is good, but you could honestly cut out two dozen episodes without missing much. Both shows are philosophical in their own ways but I’d argue Brotherhood, which follows the manga, is better overall. It has better characters and a better story.
