In any case, inconsistency is a major drawback, but that’s in-universe; when a decision made by the author leads to fans fighting over ships, essentially splitting the fandom permanently, I consider that worse. Just look at the split among Jean/Scott/Emma fans.

I think the issue with that guy is that he could go toe to toe with a tailed beast 2,that's how he shrugged off the rasenshuriken, and naruto had to beat him with his own finger of death attack

He's supposed to be strong, but his lightning armor being completely unaffected by the most powerful character in the series throwing the most powerful wind jutsu ever created screams just bad writing.

The honest answer, per PsychoEFrost, is that it is bad writing. Kishimoto thought it would be a cool visual to have Naruto beat him with his own attack but didn't bother to create an acceptable reason for why a technique that he should have been susceptible to failed - other than "he's really strong guys!". The power inconsistency is definitely another of the big problems with Naruto.

Is that a bad thing? I don't think Reynolds' take is fair, especially with the crap that surrounded it.

I wouldn't want Cyclops sidelined just because he'd been in the movies before - he had yet to be adapted properly.

Geoff Johns really loves Hal Jordan, he's the one that pushed hal to be resurrected, wrote tons of cool stuff about him, retconned emerald twilight, and pushed to keep some of his continuity in the new 52. So I don't think hal is going anywhere

as for Cyclops, I think marvel will want a classical line up, and if anything, they've managed to make me want more of characters like falcon or ant man, so I think Cyclops will do just fine in the MCU
