I agree with you. But for me, and fans like me whose main attraction to X-23 is her manner and maturity and dignity as was laid down by Kyle & Yost. If they are going to turn Laura into some female roughneck or some American 'every girl', then that has no appeal to me. That character is boring and for me not inspirational at all.
Her personality wasn't the biggest issue in that book - continuity was. After Gabby's introduction, she should've joined the All-New X-Men as well, since there's no reason Laura would not have her with her at that point. Instead, Gabby went unmentioned, even after they got to IVX, which, being after Civil War II (which All-New Wolverine tied into but ANXM didn't), is definitely after her introduction. And then Laura just vanished from the narrative in the last issue without explaining why she wasn't sticking with the O5 (at least Idie and Evan said they were going back to school). Hopeless went out of his way to not acknowledge what Taylor was doing with Laura.

I wouldn’t say Hopeless “went out of his way” to ignore ANW.
Taylor and Hopeless have both stated that they were not communicating with each other while they wrote their respective books. Neither knew what the other had planned or what they were doing. Hence the massive disconnect between the two series.
If anything, blame editorial for the lack of communication, cohesiveness and continuity.
Cyclops was SO DAMN RIGHT, BABY
Pull list: X-23, Mr. & Mrs. X, Extermination, Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider, Uncanny X-Men
Have been informed that the Black Swans are "only seeking female members, but thank you very much for your time"
The editors aren't the seatbelt, the editors are the driver. Planning and coordinating between titles is the editors' job. If the writers care enough about other projects to go an extra mile, great! They shouldn't have to. That's unpaid extra work because the people who are paid to do it aren't. It's like the past three years of X-Editorial can't do anything beyond getting stuff out on time.
While I haven't read Extermination #5, from the spoilers it sounds like
spoilers:end of spoilers
absolutely no mention was made of Laura and Warren's relationship when O5 Warren went home. Good riddance, I'd like to forget that entire misconceived and mishandled romance ever happened.

Basically Teen Jean put memory block on them that were set to go away once they became adults in the present....So present day Warren now has memories of dating Laura.
Captain, in Order to build a better world, sometimes means tearing the old one down... And that makes enemies.
It'll be crazy if he realizes he still has feelings for her
With that said, I think this will affect Jean the most as she had the most development out of the 5. I dont expect them to make Beast a magic wielder. Bobby and Warren were essentially the same person. Cyclops got to interact with different characters in Champions so that may come up but Jean is the one with the most to gain
