Can't wait for this Storm Freya to end. Feels like the windows are going to be ripped from the house!

Got about 10 inches (about 25.4 cm) of snow overnight.
Thankfully, when I woke up this morning, the driveway and front walkway had already been plowed.

We've barely had any snow this winter (in the Midlands in England anyway). We've had a record breaking February for high temperatures here but as is always the way with British weather, we have a really nice spell and then it's nearly always followed by a storm.

Yeah it's been a little while since we last had snow here, it's been raining a fair bit recently but that's about it. Though I did get to see a nice big rainbow today for the first time in a long, long time which is always nice.

Bah! I love how whenever I meet someone in North America and they mention 'soccer' they chuckle and correct themselves.

Well, it's the terminology we grew up with here.

Besides, my comment was more a joke for the benefit of those who here who forget that "www" stands for "World Wide web". Many Americans, at least in my experience, tend to forget that people from outside the U.S. tend to post here as well. (Don't know if the same goes for those in the U.K. or not.) The fact that we're a big ol' country with only two international land borders makes a bit of a difference. (Heck, during my lifetime I haven't even been to almost half of the 50 states.)

Okay, Canada I can sort of understand because of the proximity to the U.S., but Australia, New Zealand, and parts of southern Africa?

I'm assuming they call it soccer in Australia because they have Aussie Rules Football as well. I've no idea why South Africa call it soccer!?

All I know is that Countries outside of Europe call it Soccer and it's only us Europeans who seem to call it Football.
