Regarding the Daunte Wright case, Pat Robertson of all people said he can’t believe a police officer can mix up a gun and a taser. He also said that he’s pro police but things need to change.

When Pat Robertson of all people says stuff like this, then you know that a lot more people are surely (but very slowly) coming to the realization that the police force should be reformed.

I'm actually inclined to agree with Miranda Wayland about this, even if we agree/argue that part(s) of the construction of her stance was off-base (the presumption that Luther was Caribbean, for example). Because at the end of the day, Luther was still a Black character on a show that lasted 8-9 years being written and directed by a White writer, who deliberately fashioned the character in such a way that they wouldn't have to worry, in their minds at least, about portraying Luther as anything beyond a generic (and defaultly so) template.

But the black experience isn't a monolith. Not every black person speaks the same way, acts the same way or has the same amount of black friends. This all depends on varying factors. That crack about Caribbean food is focused on because it honestly betrays a surprising amount of ignorance on her part. Luther is just one type of black person. It might be troubling if every black person on t.v. was like him but that isn't the case.

In summary, there's absolutely nothing like a "typical black man", black people are not all the same. And it's wrong for Miranda Wayland to somehow suggest that her personal experience as black woman represents what all black people should be. The Caribbean food is even totally ridiculous considering a very huge amount of black british people are of Nigerian descent and eat mostly Nigerian food.

In addition to the obvious bigotry within right wing youtube circles, what gets me is just how much they tell lies.

It's pretty staggering just how totally dishonest they are. But it's really not surprising considering just how far the right has fallen considering totally made up, 4chan fan-fiction that is "Qanon" has overtaken their psyche.

Meanwhile, 13 year old Adam Toledo was gunned down by police officers.

Granted he had a gun when the cop was pursuing him but it looked like he threw away the gun. Then he raised his hands and he still got shot.

I don't really think police should even pursue suspects like EXCEPT a violent assault or something of the sort has happened already.

As for Adam Toledo whether he was violent or not the police would've concocted the flimsiest excuse to pursue and escalate. Despite everything that's happened over the last year a lot of these people still feel emboldened to live out out that action movie that plays in their heads.

It's odd to me though how despite the show spoilers:

discussing the legacy of Captain America and the USA with regard to African-Americans, they never involved Battlestar in any of that. It might have been interesting to see his perspective on it before his demise
