Maher is sharper than Rogan, but is also a bit of a dips##t who's been doing the political commentary so long that he's come to think of himself as an expert.

The Peterson/Shapiro/etc. crowd generally look for the dips##ts on the left and video themselves "owning" those folk and right-wingers love that because it makes them look smart by association. It's the same thing the Daily Show does/did and other shows like it, the only difference being they're doing it for a laugh and to highlight the worst actors on the right and the Peterson/Shapiros do it and expect you to take it seriously as a legitimate back-and-forth between equals where their arguments are just clearly superior.

There's a reason you don't see the Petersons of the world going up against seasoned debaters on the left instead of screeching fools with p##sy hats. They couldn't hold their own and maintain the illusion of their "critical thinking" and intellectual superiority. And that's bad for business.
It all goes back to rightwingers not being funny. They're just not. I've tried watching Guffeld, and I swear his ratings come exclusively from being propped up by Fox News. Comedy, even mean comedy, works from being able to emphasize with the subject of the story. Even when he's being evil, Dave Chappell makes me smile. Sometimes I smile because what he said left me gasping. Sometimes it's a frozen smile of shock, like I can't believe what he just said, good lord! Mostly the second kind these days, he's been in a mood.

Right-wing comedy though, is all comparison crap. It's always got this uncomfortable undercurrent of extreme anger under the surface, too. "Hey! Look at those freaks over there! Jesus, we sure knew how to handle them back in the day! Hahaha! They wanna use the same bathrooms as my daughter?! Yeah, why don't you f***ing try it, huh?"
"A happy ending? So unlikely. We're not having a moment here.

Wrong city, wrong people, all huddling in fear.

No one escapes the slaughterhouse, and that's just where you're at.

(You could've asked Rebecca but then Adam stomped her flat.)

You think you're special cuz you're scrappy? You're deluded, time to go.

Lucy's living on the moon but you're another dead psycho."

So often, conservative comedy is just playing tit-for-tat. You said GW Bush was stupid, so I'll say Obama is stupid. You said Trump is old and losing his marbles, so I'll say Biden is old and losing his marbles. It seems less an attempt to point out absurdities than a justification for resentment.
Watching television is not an activity.

I think the key to comedy is being able to look at the established order of things and seeing the things that don't make sense/add up that we all (or mostly) accept as "the norm", and pointing out those flaws in a humorous way. That's inherently not conservative. Being conservative means not only being comfortable but being protective of the established order and tradition. There's a reason jokes about religion are a goldmine for everyone from George Carlin to Jim Jeffries to Ricky Gervais.

I will say there are a few exceptions. I still think Dennis Miller was (and, if I saw him anywhere, still is) funny. I thought Norm MacDonald was hilarious. But it's few and far between.

Pretty cool vid by indie comic creator Vince White, featuring my comic character MYTH SMITH! He says in the vid I requested this, but that's not the case. So I was pretty surprised when I saw it/was tagged by it on facebook. Turns out he got confused and did this when someone else requested their character get featured LOL. Either way, nice little promo for my book, and Vince's line of collectable cards!

White supremacists love to speak in code. When they say immigrants they really mean anyone who isn't white. Even if you are born here and have family going back generations if you are not white (and the right kind of white at that) then you aren't an American in their eyes.

Comedy ...stand up in particular is one of those things that people can disagree on. You either find comics funny...or you don't. I brought it up last year...even when someone is in Dave Chappelle's face not happy with material , he'll push on. Like he offended one lady while her husband laughed. So he twisted the knife in his apology .

Norm MacDonald was the same way. When he'd tick people off or be told to not make jokes about a topic , he saw it as his duty to do it. (Jon Lovitz has a story where Norm was told by a casino to not do certain material. So he got up there and did it..)

What we see now society wise with jokes about sex and more ; the trailblazers were told by some how terrible they were. How awful they was then to do this and as posted some went to jail over it.
"The story so far: As usual, Ginger and I are engaged in our quest to find out what the hell is going on and save humanity from my nemesis, some bastard who is presumably responsible." - Sir Digby Chicken Caesar.
“ Well hell just froze over. Because CM Punk is back in the WWE.” - Jcogginsa.
“You can take the boy outta the mom’s basement, but you can’t take the mom’s basement outta the boy!” - LA Knight.

On the other hand I get where critics of Mr. Chappelle are coming from. When Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, etc. were working "blue" and attacking groups they were generally (though not always) attacking the system itself and highlighting the absurdities of the things many of us take for granted, and they rarely punched down at vulnerable people. Government, religion, marriage, sex, etc. where the norm was usually the butt of the joke instead of those on the fringe/in the minority.

Lucasfilm Warned ‘Obi-Wan’ Star Moses Ingram About Racist ‘Star Wars’ Hate: It Will ‘Likely Happen’

Moses Ingram, who plays a villainous Inquisitor in upcoming Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” hunting the Jedi trainer (Ewan McGregor), revealed that Lucasfilm was proactive in media training ahead of the series premiering May 27.

“It was something that Lucasfilm actually got in front of, and said, ‘This is a thing that, unfortunately, likely will happen. But we are here to help you; you can let us know when it happens,'” Ingram told The Independent.

Ingram noted that “Obi-Wan Kenobi” director Deborah Chow has been “putting the proper systems in place so I feel safe as we do the work” throughout production. “Of course, there are always pockets of hate,” Ingram said. “But I have no problem with the block button.”

Just don't whisper John Boyega's name around LFL executives and creative, or suggest that they should peruse TLJ for possible (blatant) racism and sexism on their part...
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

    Yes..yes, it is.

14 kids and 1 teacher dead in an elementary school shooting in Texas. What's sad is the next discussion will be "this is not the time to talk about gun control". David Cronenberg said it recently that Canadians view American political talking points (particularly the conservative ones) as being insane. It's not just Canada thinking that, a lot of non-Americans are looking at the US and wondering exactly what went wrong.

After the Sandy Hook massacre (which I think we are around the 10th anniversary of), there should have been a national push to tighten gun control. Instead, several states have gone in the complete opposite direction. Mental health/stress is not a uniquely American phenomenon, the difference is that a lot of unstable individuals have easy access to firearms. Needless to say, there are going to be more mass shootings in the US (for some reason, mass shootings have trended up over the last two decades or so) when people can get guns so easily.

Its not the next discussion. It is happening right now. The crime scene is not even cleared and people like Ken Paxton are already on the news shows. Dont take our guns. We need more guns. Arming the teachers is the only answer here.

And the GOP who have spoken so far like Abbot, Cruz, and Mitch M all going on about how Tragic this is and how it is a shame nothing could be done to prevent this and how does this happen again!

    It is so sick.

    It's sick and tragic.

The sheer cruelty, greed, and, callousness are really troubling.

Some people in the country are literally sacrificing human beings...children for profit.

I find it hilarious that the GOP is so concerned about "protecting the unborn" but when it comes to actually protecting kids..real kids...they do nothing.
