The shitty racebender crowd move the goal posts to whatever lane they feel will have traction, there opinions mean nothing. This whole argument is like an onion, there are layers. At the core for me is- does anything, work, in comics at this point? Is ANYTHING flying off the shelves? Has that EVER been the justification for anything? The 2021 present ain't the boon for comic books in terms of popularity- by any means, so any argument for equating sales with popularity is weak af. The market is uber-niche at this point. If not for the explosion of variants I'm hesitant to even guess where the industry even is. This perception of a studio production becoming a popular comic pipeline is a falsehood imo. It doesn't work that way, and I can argue it never did. Or at least as tough as people purported it too, only with a couple of outliers. It's just another hurdle argument put in front of Black folks to justify any and all projects.

Look at the MCU, for as big as it has been, those characters don't make much of a wave on the comics side. Wandavision was a whole thing and there was no comic with it right? I operate on the collector side and I know more than a couple cats who flipped WCA #45 for a couple hundred bucks a piece, raw. A freakin dollar bin book for the last 20+ years. That's the comic market with the gains, sparse as they might be.

Also Wanda is white, superwhite and she didn't even have a book to sell far as I know, so with the poc characters the hit is going to be that much harder. That's before you get into the bind that is the Milestone characters and the constant cock tease that in 2021, 2022 or forward, hell go backward as far as you'd like, and there is zero traction for the Dakotaverse (understandably the lawsuit situation). There is good number of IP to go around and none of it is dependent on a monthly. I feel the biggest movers in the monthly comic system are the independents anyway, that is where a huge chunk of the market is when you look at what books are on the shelves.

IKR, I have a cousin who's not even a comic fan but ROCKS with this new Superman show. I tried, It's still CW and their house style bothers the fk out of me. I hadn't heard about a John Henry drop until Killerbee just posted it. Man, is any of that going to get me to come back to the CW cape shows? Not really, I can't get the time back from those terrible seasons of Arrow or those seasons of Flash where it meandered on and on. I haven't even gotten through 80% all of Black Lightning and I like BL. Maybe it's the binging format that has spoiled me, maybe it's the quality and familiarity of the D+ shit but I didn't miss an episode of the CapFalconBucky show.

BlackBatguy looks cool but ultimately it's fruit from the same corny CW tree. I may try to catch dude in the role but I'm one who is waiting on Icon, waiting on Static. Maybe even a Steel project, I don't know. There is something real to putting the existing IP poc in QUALITY projects that can and will lead to other things. We've seen it, if that continues to happen and some of these other arguments likely fall away.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?

I like Superman and Lois, but these CW shows usually go south around the 3rd or fourth season. Tyler Hoeclin just doesn't feel right as superman to me, he's fit, but not big. You can tell how padded that superman suit is vs when he's not in it, Jordan is a raging emo kid, I feel like Johnathan should have gotten powers instead. There's a new static comic coming, I hope it's good.

As of Mary Sue’s Loki review, I’m starting to notice a pattern where there’s at least one hyped scene of black women beating up or otherwise dominating a named white (and male, so far) Marvel character. The still of a this new “time police” character leading Loki in a slave collar to be summarily stripped naked is rather weird.....Er, “yay progress” I suppose?

    MyFirstName MyLastName quote-
The acting, the music, the story, the concept and the emotion was amazing. Off to a better start than TFaTWS and Wandavision

    Shane Bartonn quote-
The Butthurt hardcore anti SJW channels on YouTube are at work again hating on this show.Theyve been trying to sabotage Marvel from Captain Marvel onwards but they have failed miserably...

    MyFirstName MyLastName quote-
@Shane Bartonn why are the anti-SJWs targeting this show?

    Shane Bartonn quote-
    @MyFirstName MyLastName
Because Marvel is under Disney and they hate Disney with passion. They compare Disney to evil Satan.
They also complain there are too many black people in TVA etc etc...

    Shane Bartonn quote-
@MyFirstName MyLastName oooo another reason was that the director was actually a lady.

    The anti-SJW guys are bigots.

There were some folks that were on that bandwagon years back (a lot of them were even minorities) but over time the veil has been removed and a lot of them are remnants of the "gamergate", 4chan crowd. Seriously, you have some guys complaining that Marvel employs "too many women".

At this point it's best to just ignore them...they are no longer contributing anything meaningful to the greater discussions.

Hm. As reluctant as I am to ask, what were these negative takes on the show like, exactly?

The 4chan, 8chan, or whatever clan literally hates everything. There "thing" is just extreme levels of hate. Of course, certain types get it more (minorities, woman that challenge them, woman that aren't hot enough) but they literally hate pretty much everything.

At least the source of it all (4chan ish). I don't get on YT or Twitter comments.

LOKI is triggering them a touch because of hte focus on the genderfluid thing. And it really isn't that bad and generally there is actually praise for it to an extent because it matches with the comics and 4chan crowd has a thing for FemLoki anyway.

I mean, I hang around 4chan about 1-2x a week for.... reasons... usually around wednesday..... and really it isn't that bad for this show yet. The "main stream media" just like sto cherry pick from places like that to drive posts and content.

We got folks complaining about the United States of Cap America.

    https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/...america_2021_1

The shield has been stolen! No one understands the value of the shield like those who’ve wielded it, so Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson set out on a road trip across America to chase down the thief. But instead, they find the Captains, everyday people from all walks of life who’ve taken up the mantle of Captain America to defend their communities. And for some reason, the shield thief wants them all dead.
I did not know inspire and replace was the same thing according to them.

With "some" screaming how dare those artist put themselves in the book are heroes that is selfish and ignorant.

GEE where was these guys when STARGIRL showed up? Static's family? Star Trek New Frontier? Spawn's daughter? All books inspired by REAL people.

And the usual suspects that would never read the book (like every other book that they have thrown fits about) only see a gay white man, a black woman (who has garnered the most hate that the artist left Twitter), Native American and an Asian one.

I like TJ, but I have to disagree on one level...he says that Transracialism isn't a thing, but the fact that there's been examples of POC passing as white for generations proves that it is in fact a thing. We're just not used to white people passing for POC. He also mentions that he couldn't pass for The Rock. Well, of course not, but if he wanted to pass as Puerto Rican, or Dominican or Cambodian depending on how he presented himself, he might be able to get away with it.

In my real life I have to sometimes ask people about their background. I can't tell you the number of times someone said, "I'm not white, I Italian"..."I'm from country-in-the-middle-east, but they told me to say 'white' cuz it would be easier" ...or "I'm from same-country-in-the-middle-east so that means I'm Asian, but in America that means Chinese/Japanese right? I'm not that..."

But there's a difference between someone who honestly believes that they are a different race than the one they were born into and someone who pretends to be another race for some perceived advantage. For instance, Black people who were light skinned enough to pass never actually thought that they were white. They only let white people, whom they assumed, often rightly so, to be racist, to believe that they were white as well. But they often lived in constant fear of being found out.

What is this story going around that COVID-19 vaccines makes people “magnetic”?

I haven’t taken my shot but if this stuff turns us all into Magneto, isn’t that more reason to take the vaccine?
