Those four would get you a pretty comprehensive view of the universe though.

I didn't love Shadow Cabinet, but that's essentially the Avengers/JLA of the Dakotaverse.

Also, Milestone Returns is releasing early next year, so you can check out the rebooted Dakotaverse.
Thank you. I am going to be looking for these the next few days. my friend who has an over 10,000 issue collection said he has some Milestone stuff. he lets me use his collection like a liberary so I am going to hit that.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I would offer the current Savage Dragon run-Malcolm his son is the lead. Now I will WARN you that is a bit too much sexual content at times (he has 4 kids-3 of them got concieved in a foursome.). Malcolm is half black due to his mother and his wife is Asian (and MAN does she have a sex drive.) Start with issue 193.

While not a super hero-Goldie Vance from Boom. She is biracial and I didn't know she was gay until much later on. It takes place in the 1950s and interesting no takes issue with her sexuality or her dating a woman.

Fence from Boom. Not really super heroes but a series that had LGBT content but it's never the focus.
Stealth which is ending next month from Image. A son deals with the fact his dad who has mental health issues was the hero Stealth.

    Excellence.
    Valiant's Shadow Man either one
Image's Prodigy-think Mr Terrific without the tech
    Farm Hands
    Bitter Root
    Vault's Mall
    Stronghold
Number 13-a book about a black cyborg
    Valliant's Livewire
    Relay
    Vertigo's American Way 1 & 2
    Vertigo's Unknown Solider
Watson & Holmes if you can find the trades
    Dead Letters from Boom
The Man Who F#$#ed up Time (just ended)
    Gasolina
    The Fuse
    Marvel's Mosaic
    All New Inhumans vol 2
Steel although the family vanishes before Priest takes over.
Eve Ewing's Riri. More on the grounds of using who you have versus making more new folks. She took an old New Warriors foe and linked them to Riri. Which could help the New Warriors further down the road.

Honorable mention Doomed-which probably needed another 6 issues to fully explain baby Doomsday.

Kobalt is you must avoid one. Although Static appears in one issue (Jamal Igle's first book). Think a very grumpy Deathstroke being told he had to train his friend's kid-who is nowhere near Tim Drake's skills.

To me the ones in bold are required reading.

Static to me is this is how you do it without preaching or pandering and how a kid deals with powers and normal life. Tim Drake's Robin run was just the same.
This is a great list. I have never heard of a lot of these. i am going to do some research and see what peaks my interest. Thank you for the help

Watson and Holmes was pretty good (Modern day Sherlock featuring black leads).

I didn't read all of Jason Aaron's Scalped but what I did ready was a pretty good Reservation based Crime story.

I like the book Infidel from a few years back. It's a horror story touching on xenophobia.

Also, check out some of the stuff some of the regulars here have been working on G. Boney and Greg have been putting in work on their stuff for years.

    Myth Smith - G. Boney
Marassa, I'snana the Were-Spider, The Gentlemen from Greg Elysee.

Check out Crescent City Monsters too. The art for that is phenomenal and I think they just recently did a Kickstarter for a TPB.
    Pull List:

Marvel Comics: Venom, X-Men, Black Panther, Captain America, Eternals, Warhammer 40000.
    DC Comics: The Last God
    Image: Decorum

All this being said, is there some edict that there has to be black male nudity on these tv series? Between Altered Carbon, Watchmen, Power and now this, I'm a little tired of seeing naked black men on tv.

It's HBO, they always add sex and nudity. Tic's nudity is tame compared to what they did in Euphoria. That was legitimately problematic considering the show centered around teens.

Sidenote thoughts on Zendaya making emmy history with Euphoria?

I can understand the suspicion. Black people and other minorities are dehumanized through sexualization all the time. Like the old Jezebel or Mandigo trope

Sure. But it depends on who's doing it and how it's done. Not every instance of black sexuality is dehumanizing.

Heh, a dudes crank is the new topless. I guess since we had it our way like Burger King for the last 30 years times up. Even though it wasn't full frontal throw in Hip-Hop videos and we was damn sho were the bonus for a long time. Damn shame there isn't a clear hi-res photo of Regina King in her underwear from Enemy of the State without a dozen site redirects.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?

    It's done for a reason.

Some times it's for eye candy for the Tumblr crowd.

Other times it's to show black man are not just asexual being on a show or movie.

I never got the impression that Tumblr liked black men very much. I always thought they were into scrawny guys and lesbians to the point of fetishism.

Well, it's not hard to find say some lame music video where the women are strippers or the lyrics are overly sexist. And we're all aware of how for generations the establishment has used stereotypes of overly sexual black people to justify either political oppression or violence against us.

On the other hand, we're all aware ( especially in this thread) of how a lot of TV and movies go out of their way to make black characters asexual in order to not cause "controversy". So, in these recent cases where black people are portrayed as desirable and that's seen as a good thing in the story, I can see how a few viewers might be a little uncomfortable.

Thing is, we should be allowed the same range of expressions as white people are when it comes to sexuality or romance. It doesn't have to be we're either all sluts or we're all celibate.

You should hang around Black Tumblr. PLENTY of love for Black men there.

The scrawny guys crowd tend to be fandom types in my experience.

BM cast as Hawkman, BW cast as Tinkerbell and Jonathan Majors hinting at Kang... Twitter's about to blow up.

Always wanted to see both Hodge brothers cast as superheroes...and always imagined Aldis Hodge as Icon. But Hawkman works. Hope he signs a nice 10 picture deal with WB.
