Default MLB 2024 Regular Season Thread

The 2024 baseball season kicks off for real this afternoon in Baltimore with the Orioles hosting the Shohei-less Angels (weather permitting).

Time to strap in and hang on as that six month roller coaster ride to the World Series gets underway! And I could be more excited! PLAY BALL!!!

Sox are starting on the coast in Seattle, so I've got a ways to go until my team opens (though not as long as those on the east coast who had games postponed until tomorrow.

It's spring, and hope SPRINGS eternal-but it usually it gets crushed in the dog days of August though...

Man! Got to wait one more day for Braves/Phillies. This is looking to be a big season for the Braves, looking forward to the race for the NL East and Playoffs!

Am excited to see if the Dodgers trying to buy a championship works for them this year or if they will fall short.

New Red Sox acquisition OF Tyler O'Neil sets a MLB record by homering in his 5th consecutive Opening Day game.

After a one day delay due to rainy weather, my Phillies take the field at three this afternoon for their home opener against Atlanta. By the by, 2024 marks the 20th anniversary since the opening of Citizen's Bank Park, one of the nicest parks in MLB.

Braves start the year off by getting blanked by Wheeler and then shelling the Phillies bullpen, good start to the year

Yeah, that was a bad start for my boys, wasting a gem by Wheeler. Annoying.

Dodgers are off to a good early start in just a few games, for what that's worth. The ump's strike zones in the games I've seen so far seem to be a bit variable to say the least. A bit more consistency is to be hoped as the season gets a bit older.

Braves offense is in full effect already, win again easily despite the Phillies being gifted 3 runs by one of the worst missed strike calls in the first inning that I’ve ever seen

Meanwhile, the Yankees just swept the Astros, with Soto and Cabrera (surprisingly) both hitting .500
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Not quite a sweep yet, they play again tomorrow. It's a 4 game series. A lot of the opening weekend series were 4 game series because they started on Thursday and MLB doesn't travel between games on Fri/Sat/Sun and doesn't do 1 game series on Thursdays unless it's a make up game on an open date later in the season.
