    That's a very good point.

Wolverine, easy, He'd be a slave. His origin fits too well

illegitimate son of Elizabeth Howlett (who was married to John Howlett, owner of a large estate) and the Howletts' grounds-keeper, Thomas Logan.
change it to illegitmate son of slave owner and slave

As a boy, James was notably frail and prone to bouts of allergic attacks. He was largely neglected by his mother,James was constantly under the pressure of his grandfather, Mr. Howlett, who believed that James required constant punishment by a strong hand, in order to be raised properly. "Firm, but fair," was what Mr. Howlett said to justify his abusive actions.[1]
I mean.. come on! fits too well

When he "snaps" and his mutation manifest, it can be because of his mom getting abused again.

Even the experimented on thing fits. He could also bounce between wars easier due ot how blacks were segregated... his "exploits" in war wouldn't be widespread knowledge

Magneto wouldn't be a holocaust survivor, and that is so central to his story they would choose another genocide, which would likely be non-white

That's an interesting angle to take.

Also and I might be misremembering but I think someone on these boards once suggested that for a time the comics were playing with the idea that Logan was Native American.

I mean, to continue the slave thing, you could also use it ot justify why he seems to be so easily mentally manipulated/controlled. He grew up with no free will or choice. Weapon X getting ahold of him is just turning him back to his "original" state of a slave.

Plus he could be viewed as disposable due to being black.

Actually, this reminds me of Isaiah Bradley's story.

Yep. To the point of experimentation or even being thrown into suicide missions that he miraculously escapes due to his healing factor

basically yes, just taken back farther into time.

Incredibly doubtful. MCU will show us that. People are getting racebent for sure. Southern Black Rogue/black new orleans Gambit incoming

But at the same time, if it came out now... it would make great comic stories to keep them all white if someone had the balls

not only did charles only pick pretty mutants, but he only picked pretty white mutants.

That is juicy material for villains to pick at.

Damn. Would this mean I'd have to give Moses Magnum back?
Beefing up the old home security, huh?

Most of the X-Men should be non-white, and there should be virtually no wealthy one that are white.

Right now people can screen for disease and genetic abnormalities, I highly doubt you'd see a Kardassian or a Hilton make it to childbirth if they tested positive for an X-Gene.

Pym I could see being second generation Indian American, possibly linked to a bio-tech start up or something like that.

Dazzler is Black FOR SURE she's Beyoncé or Rihanna. (Also, it's crazy that this forum automatically adds the accent to the e in Beyoncé. That's power.)

    Spider-Man has already been done.

I honestly could not handle Wolverine being black. Perhaps the 1980's Wolverine could work as black. The guy who tried to live like a Samurai is my favorite version. But since the 1990's, writers have added too many contradictory traits to Logan.

Logan seems too much like a blatant white male power fantasy to me.

I could not handle a black Logan binge-drinking, pushing up on women in committed relationships, attacking allies over slights, having underage female sidekicks, a graveyard full of murdered lovers, whoring around, and perhaps worst of all......having a slew of bastard offspring that he went on to murder.

Cyclops as a black man could work for me.

Namor kinda reminds me of legendary boxer Jack Johnson.

Black Panther used to be my blatant black male power fantasy.

I have known real-life black Logans (a few were blood relatives), and I avoid them like the plague. I think black Logan would be a stereotype.

I hear what you are saying about the need for more variety. I just think Logan is too damned extreme. He is more of a caricature.

I think Blade is a great example of a not so noble character who does not border on being a stereotype. Bronze Tiger works, too.

Some writers might be too scared to handle a black anti-hero.

If we get to have power fantasies I'm stealing Tony Stark.

    Or maybe Iron Fist.

Aside from the stupid origin he just counts his money (that other people manage), does kung-fu, eats take out, and listens to rap all day. I can get behind that.

well, I think a lot of his stuff would be toned down if written today though.

Plus, the bastard kids he murdered were trying to kill him lol. The teenage sidekick thing definitely wouldn't exist this day and age (still have no idea why writers are so obsessed with that). It would make sense that a character that is practically immortal wouldn't marry and might have kids here and there through the centuries.,

I think modernized a touch, black logan would be cool. Just don't take away all his warts... that is what makes him interesting.

I still believe that the ninja turtles are the only mutants worth caring about, and the Elephantmen if they count. The X-men are a bunch of pretty people who sulk in a mansion all day when they're not hooking up. It's MTV's Real World with Superpowers. I think the Hulk and She-Hulk being black would be interesting. Could play up the whole angry black man/woman stereotype.

Edit: Im not sure about Namor, he has a history of lusting over blonde haired, blue eyed white women, I mean everyone came on to Sue at one point but Namor never quit.
