Son anyone got any thoughts on this thing with tumblr banning all adult content?

At first I was like, "whatever"...but I guess some people feel that Tumblr gave certain folks an avenue to explore their sexuality in ways that aren't served by other adults sites. Part of me thinks something else will probably appear to fill that void eventually though.

It's a lot simpler than that. They saw how Black Panther literally printed money for them and got a bunch of positive buzz, which opened up a bunch of conversations about audiences wanting more diversity in their superhero movies. Now they look at China, one of the biggest film markets on the planet. Disney's eyes turned into dollar signs.

Add to it that the Netflix shows are going bye-bye (the only other platform where it arguably would've made sense to do this), and it's pretty simple. Plus with the Netflix characters likely being persona non grata, they'll be like "Danny Rand who?"

Some actual artists over there have phrased it infinitely better than myself but I'm in the camp that it's a bad move. Is there a problem with CP on Tumblr? Yes I've come across about ten blogs in the past, but that just means that go go after those people. Don't go after the artist whose blog is their source of income because you don't want to put in the work to stamp out the actual problem.

Someone called attention to their terrible ability to deal with CP likely due to being cheap... and it just so happened that someone was Apple.

Their various bots to try and stop various porn issues failed so they panic banned it all.

The only way to combat CP would be to hire mods to check all the stuff all the time.

And they don't want to pay for a staff of mods working 8 to 12 hour days. So they use bots.

But the bots suck at detecting that stuff.

They would rather throw out all the porn rather than
spend money to moderate any of it.

i've read there were a few things wrong with the current system:

1. they would delete the picture but accidently keep the post there blank. Which just lead to CPusers to use a link to find the new place for it. Actually exacerbated the problem because they then found "new" places

2. you couldn't report without pressing the SHARE button. Who in the right mind would be the person to click Share on CP to report it???? you'd nope out of htat really really fast.

In addition to the above mentioned issues, the algorithm they're using is pretty faulty, having already flagged posts that are very much SFW. Including the post from the tumblr staff that made the announcement.

so it sounds like clicking the share button gives you optinos.

But who the hell would have the balls to first hit "share" on CP????

When they remove child porn images, they tend to leave the original posts and their accompanied notes intact. So, basically, they're leaving up lots of these "Hey, we removed illegal material that was here, but please click below to see 200 more blogs that might have what you're interested in". They are essentially accomplices to distribution of child porn.

The child porn pictures often get reblogged over a thousand times before they are removed, which can take a week or even months. There are a lot of child porn images that have been on the platform for several months, even though numerous users (but not all of them!) reblogging the illegal image have been banned. Even worse, banned users just recreate their accounts, sometimes incrementing a number in end of the account name. Those numbers eventually reach double digits, they just keep coming back.

There are also "beacon" images that don't get removed at all, since they only contain text in the image such as "reblog if you want to have sex with children". Using these, pedophiles can easily find hundreds of other pedophile blogs and reconnect back to the grid after they are forced to recreate their account. Some of the beacons have existed for several years.

The pedophiles on tumblr are fearless. There are people taking selfies of themselves, showing their face, and then showing them jacking off to child porn that's on their computer screen. There are people openly trading their phone numbers to connect in Whatsapp to trade images there, and although the international numbers I've seen have mostly been China, Vietnam, Mexico, Brazil, and other similar places a bit further away from the western civilization, there are users from Europe and USA posting their phonenumbers on those beacon posts. There are posts about "pedo pride" and the whole thing is outright crazy. There are thousands of active pedophiles on tumblr. THOUSANDS.

If I recall correctly I believe that the Tumblr app was removed from the Apple store or something like that due to the NSFW blogs. Still if this issue should've been dealt with when various users brought it to the staff's attention. Also I didn't know that reporting posts required you to like then, I just cut out the middleman and report the blog. First time I did it was to some jackass who thought his screen name, Shoot Black People, was cute. Not to go on a rant but that reminded me that there is a **** ton of bigotry on Tumblr that goes unchecked but no women baring their breasts is the real evil.

Batwoman is going to be on Green Arrow/Flash crossover. And from what i understand, Margot Robbie wants to tackle the Ivy and Harley relationship in her upcoming movie or franchise.

A Midnighter and Apollo film is something I hope I see in my lifetime! I feel like an LGBT led superhero film is inevitable and it'll be DC who does it, imo.

I don't think Jaime would have become as popular as he is now if that were the case. He'd just be an ethnic Ted Kord. Reyes became a fan favorite because of the alien connections, cool visuals, unique power set and being a relateable non angsty teen. He felt different from his predecessors and as such managed to get his own fanbase, surpassing his predecessors in popularity (something his contemporaries Jason Rusch and Ryan Choi, weren't able to do).

Pretty Much, what's even worse is that Apple rightfully called out Tumblr for their CP, but hasn't said anything about the numerous blogs of Nazi's on their post. Even more so, tumblr has been straight up lying saying they couldn't find a way to ban Nazi's. So now that they can clearly block adult material, it's
obvious where their priorities lies. I hope they screw themselves into bankruptcy.
