People showing off their collections to end a lie.

Nice to Watson & Holmes, Icon & Hardware among some folks collections.

Thought the industry was dying according to the guy with an outdated hairstyle.

I wonder if this is off that silly video where a guy walked into an Ollie's , filmed how Marvel had gave a decades worth of graphic novels/comics to sell through them and had folks believing that Marvel was DOA now . Which no one seemed to realize that DC itself sold Ollie's a decade worth of graphic novels and comics as well to move back months ago. No one wants to sit on dead stock and Ollie's being a good retailer who marks things for cheap...can move that product.

Meet Gina Rodriguez, the Latina Actress Who Refuses to Allow Black Women to Ever Be Great

As people of color, we all face specific challenges that are unique to our environments and ethnic identities. But once variables such as gender or class come into play, life can get infinitely more complicated and arduous.

    Ask black women.

But never ask Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, who habitually makes it a point to compare her plight to other women of color—or outright erase the context and identity of her melanated contemporaries—as a fifteen-time gold medalist in the Oppression Olympics.

Her latest faux pas comes courtesy of a roundtable discussion she held with Gabrielle Union, Emma Roberts, and Ellen Pompeo on Net-A-Porter’s The Big Television Debate. The topic? Pay disparities in Hollywood.

During which, she stated the following:

“I get so petrified in this space talking about equal pay especially when you look at the intersectional aspect of it, right? Where white women get paid more than black women, black women get paid more than Asian women, Asian women get paid more than Latina women, and it’s like a very scary space to step into.”

I have to be careful in the way I refer to this, but it seems that a certain segment of the comics community seems to be in a slight disarray due to a couple of key members stepping away from their clique and the "classic" versions of Marvel heroes returning...it seems they're not sure what they're supposed to be doing now.

This is a disturbing trend I'm noticing. Don't get me wrong, there are some truths to Gina Rodriguez comment that should definitely be examined. (For example, it is true that Latina women are the lowest paid on average in Hollywood.) The problem is that some only discuss these facts DURING the time that black people are talking about making advancements. Very rarely do some of these people say these things towards white people. Which gives more on the impression that they aren't saying these things to be equal, they're saying these things so they don't feel like they're below black people, as we're all are away of some of the negative issues afro latino/a face in Hispanic communities.

Perfect example, I've fortunate to have some good friends in the porn industry, and two of them have a preference for brothas. Yet when they advertise their IR content or talk about their preference, you always see responses from latinos saying "what about the Mexicans" or etc. Yet if you look at their tweets, they never say these comments towards porn actresses who haven'tor don't do IR. They never go to a woman who only bang white dudes and be like "what about us." Only when they have an interest or do IR content does they comments come out. Me and the girls literally went through their tweets to see if it ever cross and the guys only said it when a black guy was involved.

So that proved to me it didn't have to do with wanting to be equal, those who said those things were just upset over those that like black guys.

The thing about comicsgate was it was built on a lie.

All the crying about Ironheart and Falcon as Captain America or Jane Thor was always going to be pointless because said changes were always going to be temporary. Now that the original heroes have come back, the entire foundation of the comicsgate has pretty much collapsed and has shifted entirely to attacking and trolling creators. And that’s where the ugliness of the entire thing has reared its head, I mean, regardless of what you feel about gay and/or transgender people, the way the comicsgate crowd have viciously attacked creators like Noelle Stevenson and Mags Vissagio is completely unacceptable.

Now, I realize that some creators do indeed allow some of their personal politics negatively impact their books and makes said stories very clunky (Jason Aaron and Coates are very guilty of this) however it’s not worth creating an entire movement for. Honestly, I think too many folks have been far too influenced by “4-Chan” culture and all the juvenile nonsense it entails. Certain issues need to be handled with maturity and a cool head, forming online lynch mobs to attack creators just isn’t the way to go. Too many folks just can’t form a coherent argument without leaning into bigotry.

Gina Rodriguez has a history of talking some bullshit.

She doesn’t seem to realize that as colored people we all have skin in this game and the table is big enough for everyone. Besides the fact that her assertion that black women get paid more than Latina women is totally FALSE, it shows she really has a problem with highlighting the progress that black women have made.

But it’s not entirely surprising, a LOT of Latinos (it still breaks my heart what happened in the Florida gubernatorial election) have issues with black people (it’s something that dark skinned Afro-Latinos have screamed about for ages now) and its something that I struggle to wrap my mind around.

I don't think it would be a lie to say most races/ethnic groups look down upon people of African descent. They darker they are, the harder they look down on them.

Hell, you even got lighter skinned blacks who look down on darker skin peeps.

I don't know the historical reason for it but it is rather sad. Too often blacks are used as a stepping stone to be more accepted by the dominant ethnic group and then they turn arond and forget blacks helped get them accepted.

I think it's interesting that some of the people who insisted that their "movement" was about either simply wanting better comics or resisting "the far left," are now rudderless because one guy decided to focus more on his real life career and a couple other guys had beef with each other.

All of these fan created "gates" were b.s. from the start.

Gamergate started mainly because some dude was mad
that his indy dev girlfriend was sleeping with a gamer journalist and not him.

But nerds that wanna gatekeep will use any excuse to do so, no matter how inane.

Okay, for some reason, I want to make a documentary featuring R. Kelly, Future, OJ, Cosby, and a few other fellas to have a no-holds barred round table discussion about women.

I will need a time machine to invite Ike Turner, and Rick James.

Eh, that part is sadly true.

I was referring to Latina and black actresses. I read it somewhere that the highest paid actress on TV was Sofia Vergara.
