I'm being petty, but I don't like that, in the latest episode of Loki spoilers:
of the new Lokis that appeared at the end of the previous episode, the black Loki is the one who betrays them. Like, c'mon ... if that's all you were going to do with the third of those, keeping the kid and old Loki ... just have it be a very smarmy looking Loki, or have it have been President Loki, and the black/Thor Loki be the one he tried to sell them out to. Or better yet, don't have one at all, if the only point of the character will be to have them do something bad. But yeah, don't include a black Loki, only to have him be "smarmy betrayer Loki". Because I feel like making him black was shorthand for smarmy, in context of the narrative.

I mean, no, not saying every black character needs to be a paragon of virtue, but ... "guy who shows no redeeming characteristics before being a betrayer, with the group not even as long as the alligator"? Why make that character black? FFS.

Probably to play the "bait-and-switch" game with comic fans who'd of course be pointing all their suspicions towards spoilers:
    Old!Loki
end of spoilers. Though, if this fellow's acting as their spoilers:
own agent/mastermind and not as a lackey or agent of some "bigger" bad guy
end of spoilers, then this may be a positive direction, ironically. Though yeah, character development is almost always a plus.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems to be a trope somewhat. I was watching the new Red Dawn same kinda thing. I mean it was less intentional in that one but the sub is the same.

That's terrible about Suzzanne Douglas. The Parent Hood wasn't really my jam but I saw it enough to get how she stood out in terms of Mothers in familial comedies not even just of that time, all of them. I forgot she was in The Inkwell too, she always carried herself well and made her stand out. RIP.

Marvel is looking for minorites for F4

    https://www.comicbookmovie.com/fanta...6244#gs.5w56u5

This reportedly comes direct from the site's Marvel source.

"They are looking to specifically cast people of color. They also want this new team to be younger, aged 20s-30s. They plan to keep Sue and Johnny as actual siblings this time in the same race, but they are open to mixing all races in casting this family. For example, Human Torch and Invisible Woman could be Latinos, allowing Mr. Fantastic to be Black or Asian. They are still very open.”

I can see it now, the usual suspects will talk about "ginger erasure" if Jean is black. I wonder what they'll do with Wolverine.

You mean the comics which appropriated the PoC struggle for civil rights in the first place?

Depends on how old you want to make Wolverine really.

But someone will claim canadian erasure or something for sure.

I've always felt the FF are one of those early concepts that the cool factor ages out faster than nearly almost all the other properties. Factor in the fact that they don't often get along isn't even for any real contention. Not like Johnny was ever our here with his own nulifier plans or Reed was a drunk or Ben felt he should lead, nah, It was all at the level of sibling infighting. So it don't matter what racial background you cast that property in, at this point it goes purely on nostalgia octane and good luck expanding the brand with that as primary fuel.
