To be fair, a lot of the teachers are women or even kids or even obviously gay dudes
but there were enough college age or older dudes around where even when I was 17 I thought it was weird.
That wide spread no, because that was a doctor. He is going ot see way more people than any coach or tutor. He can also explain away a lot more things. Plus... that dude was PROTECTED like hell by lots of people.
What happens at the high school level at least, is that they get groomed more that anything. Or "college kids dates high school chick" type stuff.

Because that's always been about controlling women. Never about actually protecting them. Guys who say "my daughter can't date" but encourage their sons to do so forget that all those rapey guys are someone else's sons. Yet do any of these dads tell their sons to behave?
Some of the stuff I'm reading here is scary.
I can see why some parents are over protective of their daughters.
I have a young daughter too and I have a good mind of not allowing her do some stuff later.
I hate to admit it, but I think it's because of the Surviving R Kelly doc. That movie came out and then the Feds decided to get serious about prosecuting him ( using charges they usually bring against mobsters). And now a couple other states are bringing charges against Kelly as well. But had that movie not come out and people who aren't star-struck seen it, R would still be operating his sex cult.

Some do and some don't. However it's hard to tell your son something when society wants to cherry pick.
What do we keep hearing "protect our women".
No one says protect our BOYS.
You would be amazed at what is acceptable for our black boys to do that girls get yelled at for. No girl could have her ADULT boyfriend show up to school with their BABY and not get looked at funny. Funny how many boys I saw do that with women old enough to remember when remember when Levar Burton was Kunta before he was Laforge on Star Trek. And they have a KID.
THIS....the vast vast vast vast vast vast vast majority of the perpetrators are people you know. It isn't stranger danger, it is people you trust.
Remember Lifetime's black version of Dance Moms-Bring It?? Homegirl was a former STRIPPER. Who knows WHAT or WHO she might have attracted around those girls. It is exactly like that for cheer/tumbling/gynamistics.
Rumor has it Alliyah’s moms was in a sexual rship with R aswell & that Alliyah's folks more/less gave/sold her to R for more of her publishing.. I bring that up to say while it’s nice I guess R was found guilty ( not really for what he’s really guilty of the i.e. the pedo ish).. but let’s not forget who really needs to be there along with him the parents the knowing face there daughters over knowing what he was going to do them in hope for frame/riches/superstardom. When they are under a jail aswell then I’ll see something worth celebrating..
I agree about the boys part.
It’s actually funny how many guys have been sexually assaulted before especially from older females. It’s not at all uncommon but we just tend to “walk it off”.
I narrated one of these incidents to a female colleague of mine and her response was “dude, you ain’t sharp”. Basically, society has told us as men to NOT say anything about being sexually assaulted. I fully understand that sexual assault is much more common with women (again no jokes, approximately 99% of women I know have been sexually assaulted in one form or the other) but it can also be very humiliating for guys to get assaulted.

I kinda got disillusioned by Bryan Edward Hill due to his overall mismanagement of Duke Thomas/The Signal during his Detective Comics story and Outsiders run, even if both are responsible for keeping Duke/The Signal in the comic-buyer public consciousness when the character might have otherwise been in limbo.
I remember being pretty hyped for Hill, too. Hill ended up treating Black Lightning superbly, even letting him gain some serious feats and elevating him to showcase what a character like Jefferson Pierce with the powers Jefferson wields could be. Katana was also treated extremely well. But he dropped the ball far too often when it came to Duke, to the point where it became obvious he did not have a handle on who the character is and was. Hill did that writer thing where he treated Duke like he was first-comic-new, when Duke wasn't. And Hill also kind of strung Duke's fans along on social media, more than once making tactically made comments to keep them coming back that he never delivered on. The most egregious one being the day before the book's cancellation was publicly announced, where he made another promise to explore Duke more in the limelight during a "Season 2", even though he had to know no such thing was coming. Guy was playing the PR game when it came to Duke.
So yeah. That 2 year experience rather soured me on Hill as a writer in general.
Heard good things about that, though.
