Righton Ed for clarifying that about Ahmaud Arbery.

While the courthouse rally Monday emphasized the community's coming together as the trial began, the possibility that the McMichaels and Bryan may be acquitted is leaving residents tense and anxious.

So when the stimulus checks and the unemployment bonus kicked in it maybe gave enough people enough of a cushion to maybe try another career path or even self employment.

They have no reason to want to go back to the status quo.

The middle to upper echelon office workers have been working from home just fine for over a year and see no reason to return to the office just so that Management can physically see them at work. So many of them are looking for jobs that will not require that now.

They don't want to return to the status quo either.

The system was never set up for mass amounts of people saying "Screw this B.S., I'm done.".

Hence the media panic about "Christmas could be Ruined!" in freaking October.
I mean if you got kids that monthly Joe Biden check is not nothing, I'm saving for a crib. I worry that come tax time, all the planing and spending some people have worked there expenses around in years past, will change now that essentially, you've been getting that all year and that big check isn't gonna be big anymore. Also if you're home watching the kids and not paying for child care, I feel that's not a credit you'd be able to claim anymore.

A lot of people also think that racism ended when Obama got elected, when it didn't.

Obama getting elected made everything worse, not better.
My Grandma is 92 and her father were part of a group of sharecroppers when her and her sisters were very little. These very close familial ties to the past of bondage, Jim Crow and Civil Rights still live and breathe. Many of them have lived long enough to have white residents move BACK into the hood'.

Part of the problem is also distance, as in actual proximity. The middle American white has separated themselves to the point where it's not even a positive capitilistic exercise in keeping so many of their communities with working Hospitals, compounding all the other healthcare issues this country keeps itself in. Working against your own self interests was always a fools endeavor but in actuality that **** comes at you faster than most would expect. In the end we'll all feel it in ways we'd otherwise might not have considered.

If for nothing else Obama lifted a lot of viels. The wood has always been rotten underneath this country, he was just the flashlight under the crawlspace so we could see it better, I thank him for that.

Speaking of, anybody seem a recent picture of ya man? Damn he lookin' old, his wife's shape is still holding up and now he getting close to looking like her uncle instead of her husband.

Remember the Obama's sharing a little fist bump during the inauguration, got turned into a "Terrorist Fist Jab" by certain media elements. And this wasn't ironic or anything, they meant that silliness.

Crap, a Terrorist Fist Jab sounds like a special move a Street Fighter character would have more than any real thing.

The Racist hysteria started THE VERY SECOND Obama got into office. He hadn't even done anything yet.

It got really blatant really quick and that was way BEFORE the Henry L. Gates incident, where nearly every Police Department department publicly told the POTUS an expert on Constitutional Law, "**** You, We Can Do What We Want" in response to Obama saying that maybe arresting a 50+ year old Black Man on a bad leg in his own home on suspicion of Burglary was kinda over the top.

If every Cop in the US feeling free to clapback the President on the law in which he is an expert in didn't tell you where Black Folk stand in the US nothing would.

I remember when he got elected the first time. I was a sales manager at an Electronics store. We had one of the workers send a text and mass email to all the workers.

"Obama's first act? All the white people get to the fields." And he bragged about it as if it were the funniest thing anyone ever said. An then threw a fit when a couple of his black coworkers got mad at him. We ended up firing him because he refused to take an HR course on racism and he also refused to make any kind of apology yo his coworkers. He could have saved a good paying job by saying sorry and taking a course but he refused. he was that stuck in his racism. Yelling out the door we needed to learn to take a damn joke!

The thing is, these backwards morons act like they're being oppressed by 'socialism' or 'big gubmint' or whatever yet ignore incidents like the one you described where actual big government is oppressing actual minority individuals. Yet somehow police brutality doesn't count as 'gubmint' or whatever. It's why I've never been huge on those dystopian or totalitarian novels. Because they always come from a very White perspective, yet if you look at the history of non-White folks in just the USA alone, you'll see they've always lived with 1984 and Big Brother. It just doesn't factor into the minds of White guys who think a fist bump is 'terrorism'

Obama does his speech to the kids of the USA like most Presidents have done for years.

Unlike other times-parents got to OPT their kids to not hear it.

In Texas-folks KEPT their kids out of school over it.

Which Michelle came to visit-folks too their kids OUT of school over her visiting.

When my department had to move to another floor due to construction. About 5 months later, one of my co-workers moved back to her office.

She found a note from one of the construction workers.

"It's ashamed an Oklahoman white woman like you would vote for a (bleep) like Obama." She left a picture of Obama in her office (all the construction work was NOT in the offices).

So that person somehow got into a LOCKED office and wrote that.

Terrorist Fist Bump! That was some lady at Fox News. She tried to apologize but still ended up getting fired. My thing is, she knew what she was saying was some BS, but clearly she thought that's what the audience wanted to hear. After the backlash she was let go, but that's because she was a nobody. Tucker Carlson says stuff just as bad if not worse on a regular basis, but he's got the highest rating at the network so he's not going anywhere.

This was one of the bigger ironies of last years protests. Some of these folks felt they were living under "tyranny" because they were being to wear masks and stay at home while we figure out how to handle the pandemic. But when minorities (and others) speak out against the heavy hand of the police - you know agents of the govt- and the lack of accountability, they called for more authoritarianism !

To say nothing of how much more gentle the police seemed to be with these people (and the January 6 insurrectionists) than BLM protesters.

'Don't tread on me' was always bs considering the Founding Fathers were treading on Native American and African American rights from the beginning

But you see, tyranny is teaching critical race theory, because it makes me, a White man, uncomfortable, and not police beating ethnic minorities, who probably deserve it/s

Those MAGA insurrectionists were handled with kids gloves. Not BLM though. That's just 'business as usual'

I feel like the protests against the Chappelle stand up gave more life to the stand up then it would have had if everyone just shrugged and moved on....

Thats how it is with protest against Media. Remember when Married with Children came out. And in season 1 the ratings were low and they were going to cancel it. Then this one lady made this huge protest against it made a huge fuss that got a lot of news. So people watched the end of the season and the reruns to see what the fuss was about and the ratings soared and Fox decided to keep the show. Ed O'Neil said he sent that lady a huge thank you basket. Had she just shut her mouth the show would have been canceled and she would have got what she wanted.

With the Dave special even people who are not fans watched to see what the fuss was about. Giving more views and making Netflix more money.

I've had a lot of conservative white folks who would never ever ever ever watch a Chapelle stand up talk about it at work.

It's too bad Dave couldn't se his ability to have people talk about him and put it to better use.
