That's pretty much what Lawler was, until his heart attack.

Savage didn't want to semi-retire though. He wanted to keep wrestling and told Vince as much. He even proposed working with Shawn Michaels and really wanted to do that. But Vince saw him as an announcer only and its what led to Randy leaving for WCW. (In retrospect they should have let Savage work , he had a few good years left)

Fuk yeah he did. The stuff he did with DDP was top notch.

    Probably true.

I think at the time Vince was trying to emphasize youth over the older guys but WCW proved that plenty of the older guys still had a lot left in the tank.

That said, in the long run everyone was probably better off with Savage leaving for WCW. He likely got paid more and had to work less, WCW got the star power it needed to better compete with the WWE, and Vince losing stars forced him to create new ones. So all around it was probably a win win.

Savage vs HBK would have been cool though.

I got Westlemania 3 on VHS as a stocking stuffer today. Watched a few matches in it. King Kong Bundy vs Hillbilly Jim in a mixed tag match with midgets. I found it entertaining and cant believe that was a thing back in the day. Cant wait to watch The Hulk vs Andre the Giant. I have never seen it as much as I have heard about it.

I sort of miss those days in Wrestling in some ways. Fans cared less about work rate and more about the good guy beating up the bad guy. Not that I think there's anything wrong with how fans now view the product.. but it just seemed so much simpler back then.

I got to watch the Low Ki/ Davey Boy match when I get home.

NXT was pretty good. It did suffer from long match syndrome. Every match doesn't need to go through the break

Taynara is a weird kind of hot for me

Blackheart vs BelAir was damn good.

I want to see Killian Rain and Jack Gallagher be a tag team for some reason.

Dominant D needs something. His matches are all over the place. He has these crazy facials that could make him the next Sid, but instead basing his matches off his natural gifts( facials and height), he wrestles like a guy, who is trying to show all he can do in the ring. I hope he finds a character that works for him.

I think it had long matches just because it was taped along with the previous live show so they could obviously get the holidays off. Easiest way to turn one taping into 2 episodes is to give longer matches.

Backing up what I heard from insiders,

Orton was in serious talks to jump ship to AEW but they lowballed him on their offer

In the least it sounds like AEW isn't going crazy by trying to sign WWE talent with ridiculous sums of money like WCW did back in the day (and to a lesser degree TnA). As rich as Khan is, I don't think he'd be able to justify a lockeroom filled with Jericho's from a business standpoint.
