Lol. There are no women's divisions at my job. There isn't a 205 or tag team division either.
Pro Wrestling is simulated combat sports, and in non scripted combat sports. Designation are based on gender and weight class.
Getting rid of the Divas title made sense. That's a silly name for a fighter.
A women's championship match headlined WrestleMania. Erasure of identity doesn't mean equality.
I've always been a fan of feds having more, inclusive weightclasses (Heavy, Junior, Light, Cruizer, etc.) or just not having them.
MY preference is no weight classes in a fed.
In theory but I really do think this change is more about giving the current women's titles more gravitas.
Point taken.
I do think if they called the Men's Division ... Men's, this would be moot.
I also think, as I stated earlier in this post, it's more about gravitas.
The World Heavyweight Champion sounds pretty cool. So does the World Bantamweight Champion. I think that's what Becky is pushing for.
To put it in comic book terms, Invisible Girl is pretty diminutive when Sue is a woman.
I think that's the angle. Agree or not, some women find being gendered ... annoying to say the least.

As long as it doesn't mean regular intergender wrestlling matches, I don't care what they call the belts.
Right, it will cause confusion. I want to know what it's about. The title Woman world champion is pretty fine, or something like that...
I saw this coming when Becky started calling herself "The Man".

But it's not.The prestige of the title or how it's book depends on the holder of the title.
Becky reign as Raw champ is far superior to Bayley's reign as Smackdown champ. Is it because Becky is a better in ring performer? Nope.
Booking makes a title more prestigious . Nothing else. Erasing gender doesn't help at all.
Ask CM Punk, who got more shine during Punks historic title run.... Him or Cena?
